I have seen 37 of Henry’s films listed; the only one I haven’t seen is Between Us Girls.
Damn Dan…I am disappointed that you are not a Henry Koster completist…..all you have to do is track down Between Us Girls…..if it was me….I would do it…lol. Tally count: Dan 37, Flora 22, Greg 13 and Cogerson 8. Thanks for the feedback.
I have seen 13 Henry Koster movies. Like Flora, the highest rated film I’ve seen is THE BISHOP’S WIFE while the lowest ranked film I have seen is DEAR BRIGITTE. Highest rated movie I haven’t seen is ONE HUNDRED MEN AND A GIRL. Other Koster movies I have seen include IT STARTED WITH EVE, GOOD MORNING MISS DOVE, THE SINGING NUN, MY COUSIN RACHEL, HARVEY, THE ROBE, and COME TO THE STABLE. Personally, I never cared his version of MY MAN GODFREY. David Niven gives a competent performance in GODFREY but June Allyson gives a horrible performance in the movie as far as I’m concerned. The lady was totally miscast and then some. Other Henry Koster movies I have seen but didn’t particularly care for include TAKE HER, SHE’S MINE, MR HOBBS TAKES A VACATION , DESIREE, FLOWER DRUM SONG, and the aforementioned DEAR BRIGITTE. All in all, Henry Koster was
a competent director, if not necessarily a great director in my opinion. Enough Said.
Ah, heck, I did it again!!!! The above post is from yours truly. Greg My apologies for the error
Hey Greg….not an issue. You can go by Greg or Anonymous…either way we appreciate the feedback.
Hey Greg. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Henry Koster. I have to admit…I was not too aware of him before doing this page. I have seen The Bishop’s Wife a couple of times….but was not really too impressed with it….so never really researched who the director was. When looking at tally counts…I am dead last with 8 movies seen. Dan almost has seen 5 times my total as he has seen 37. Flora is second with 22 and you have the bronze…currently with 13. I have not seen his version of My Man Godfrey….mainly because I was not a huge fan of Powell’s My Man Godfrey. Good stuff.
