Hockey Movies Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Hockey Movies by the star of the Hockey movie
  • Sort Hockey Movies by actual domestic box office grosses
  • Sort Hockey Movies by adjusted box office grosses using current movie ticket cost
  • Sort by how Hockey Movies were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Hockey Movie received.
  • Sort Hockey Movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Stats and Possibly Interesting Things From The Above Hockey Movies Table

  1. One Hockey Movie crossed the magical $100 million mark.  That is a percentage of 5.88% of his movies listed.  Slap Shot (1977) is the biggest box office hit when looking at adjusted domestic box office.

  1. okay, never mind. It looks like you already answered my query on whether or not boxing films would be covered too. sorry. lol. However, I have to say that I’m very impressed, as you managed to put together another great sports film list. Although I am surprised by how few Hockey films that we have. For some reason i thought there’d be more. Oh well. Anyways, thanks again for writing this cogerson, as I look forward to reading the rest of your sport movie page. 🙂

    1. Hey Stevennix2001….I looked for more hockey movies…most were tv movies…which I have been throwing out since I started this sports page. I did find Idols of the Crowd…which is a very early John Wayne movie….I never could imagine The Duke on Ice. Glad you are enjoying the sports movie pages.

  2. Looking forward to that 100 top sports movies hub Cogerson. Curious to see which sport has the best score ratings. Pool? Snooker? Tiddlywinks?

Embarrassed to admit I’ve only seen 2 Hockey films Slap Shot and Sudden Death. So many of those those titles I’ve never heard of before.

    Good work compiling all this.

    1. Hey Steve all this pages are pretty much my worksheets for the final page….so instead of producing a page at the end that has 500 movies…I decided to break it down by sports. So I can understand why you have not seen many of these movies….my count is….counting…9 of the hockey movies…..I think by the time I finish this project I bet you will be at 80% of the final 100 movies. Thanks for reading the page.

  3. Slap shot is a Paul Newman movie. Newman is always enjoyable. But I prefer Curling to Hockey-Curling is also very popular in Canada. As far as I know, the only Curling movie is Men With Brooms.

    1. As for Men with Brooms….I will include that on my last hub that has somewhat unusual sports with few movies about them…thanks for stopping by.

  4. These movies are not my cup of tea, but I did enjoy Miracles with Kurt Russell, I really love the scene with the whistle and the practice.
