This movie sensation became the highest grossing film in England, and won Grant the Golden Globe award for Best Actor. 1. I’ve seen eight of twenty five of his films but his numbers are impressive. He’s done a movie a year since 87 and 2/3 of them been pretty good. Something about him makes him a good romantic actor and I think it’s more than the accent. My favorites have to be Music and Lyrics and Love Actually. Two Weeks notice is up there as well. Interesting page!

    1. Hey Alecia Murphy…..thanks for the visit. I would include Words and Lyrics and Love Actually among my favorite Grant movies as well. I think those two and Four Weddings and A Funeral and Notting Hill are his best movies. I think he is our modern day Cary Grant.

  2. Music and Lyrics would have to be among my favorite Hugh Grant movies with American Dreamz as a close second. Love these reviews and discovering many movies I’ve never heard about. Cheers!

    1. Hey PegCole17…..I also loved Grant in Music and Lyrics…he was the best part of American Dreamz too bad the rest of the movie was unable to match him. Notting Hill and Four Weddings always make me laugh no matter how many times I have seen the movie. Thanks for the visit.

      Wow this page needs a remodel….it was one of my first pages I ever wrote.

  3. You haven’t written a new page so I feel lost. Ha!

    Thought I would stop by this hub as I haven’t before. I’ve seen a lot of Grant films for a person who doesn’t watch recent films. It might be because he’s British. I am more likely to watch British films than I am American films when it comes to recent movies. Guess it is the genre of films being made in each country.

    I have seen 8 of his top 10 movies. The only ones I am missing are numbers 8 and 10. Yes, odd I haven’t seen a movie with a reference to music in the title, but not yet.

    Overall, I have seen 10 of his films listed. The other two I’ve seen are

    Mickey Blue Eyes and The Englishman who Went Up and Hill and Came Down a mountain.

    1. Hey Flora well I finally wrote a new page, but thanks for checking out my Hugh Grant page. Seeing 10 of his movies is pretty impressive that is almost half of his resume…let’s see I have seen 16 of his movies as he is one of my favorites, but sadly he seems to be tired of making movies and has slowed up his work schedule. Thanks for stopping by and for the comment.

  4. Glad to see this page Cogerson. I like rom-coms, and I like actors who play naive, mild-mannered heroes, so as you can imagine Hugh Grant is one of my favourite actors today. Two of his films really appeal to me;

    ‘The Englishman who went up a hill etc etc’ (one of the longest titles surely in movie history) is really charming and quaint. As I know Wales very well (the film is set in a little Welsh village post WW1) I can identify with the authentically parochial way of thinking of the locals – so concerned that their local ‘mountain’ of which they’re so proud, should not be diminished by redesignating it as merely a ‘hill’. It’s well worth a viewing, tho’ whether all people in other countries would fully appreciate and understand the lifestyle and attitudes of a little God-fearing Welsh village, I’m not sure?

    My favourite Hugh Grant movie, I’m pleased to say, is No 1 on your list. ‘Notting Hill’ sees Grant at his naive likeable best with a great self-deprecating sense of humour. You can almost believe a multi-millionaire actress could actually fall for this guy who has a wholly different, more relaxed perspective on life to everything she is used to. Julia Roberts is great too in this movie.

    Thanks for another good page.

    1. Hey Greensleeves Hubs…..wow this is one of my oldest hubs and needs a serious update to my new format…I usually give my hubs when a facelift when the actor has a new movie…but Grant seems to really slowed his schedule down.

      I like both of your favorites as well..and you correct Englishmen Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down a Mountain is one of my favorites as well. I really like Colm Meaney in the movie and like you say it is wonderful to see that small village.

      But like you Notting Hill is easily my favorite…and my wife and I watch it every year. Grant and Roberts make a great screen team….I have always hoped that they would make another movie together. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by.

  5. I love Hugh Grant! I even liked Did You Hear About the Morgans. This is a really fun movie page!

    1. You have to be a true Hugh Grant fan…I really wanted to like Did You Hear About the Morgans?….I do not think Hugh and Sarah Jessica Parker made a good couple….I just hope he continues to make movies.
