  1. I can not think about Bisset without thinking about her wet T-shirt in The Deep. Probably a bad way of thinking these days but I that memory will last my lifetime. 5 movies last year? Good to know she is still so in demand.

    1. Hey Reynolds…..The Deep made an impact on me as well…..actually…even 40 years later….if you type Jacqueline Bisset and images….The Deep pops right up. I was able to resist added any photos from that movie…we are a family website….lol. Yep….5 movies last year….granted they did not make much money…but 5 movies is pretty impressive. Thanks for the comment and the visit.

  2. Down to one missing movie. Her Death In Love is refusing to upload. Not sure what Cogerson did to this movie, but he is very sorry he made this mistake.

  3. I have seen just 5 Jackie Bisset movies and they were all in her early years from 1968-74, but 4 of them were among the Top 10 most successful films of her career so for once at least I seem to have popular opinion largely on my side- collectively the 4 have an adjusted US Cogerson gross of $1.37 billion. The entire 5 are-

    Bullitt
    The Detective
    Airport
The Mephisto Waltz – my own fave despite being a very low grosser
Murder on the Orient Express [1974

I am therefore pleased to see this new Cogerson page because it is a learning curve for me about Jacki’s later career. Sadly though The Master whilst he doesn’t stick the knife fully in as he often does is qualified in the little praise that he does give-

“Jacqueline Bisset has all the qualities for stardom- a hauntingly beautiful face, cultured [un-Brando] voice, and a curvaceous figure. She isn’t a BAD actress either, but there’s something tightly reserved about her performances. She has no exuberance or fire, yet one always feels that the fire is there, waiting to explode in the right role.”

Can ANYONE meaningfully top THAT? – except to add that Jacki has 12 acting awards to her credits and 15 noms and has generated a net worth of $20 million. “Voted Up!”

    1. Hey Bob….thanks for the visit, the comment and the tally count. Tally count so far….Cogerson 15, Flora 9 and you 5. I agree you have seen the right Bisset movies for sure. The bottom part of her rankings is not too impressive….11 movies in single digits when looking at UMR scores. That makes me wonder who has the most movies in single digits. I fear Sir Caine has a few himself….checking real quick…15 for one of my favorites. Glad you liked the new UMR subject…sorry we had so many problems….ok….sorry I had so many problems getting the completed page posted. Good feedback.

      1. HI TEACH Once again I have to go to the back of the Class of Movie Counters because, as said previously, I have seen only 5 movies against 15 for you and 9 each for Flora, Steve and the inferior Robert. However as in G K Chesterton’s famous poem The Donkey, who had his moment in the sun when he carried Christ into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday just before Jesus’ crucifixion-

When fishes flew and forests walked
        And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
        Then surely I was born.

The tattered outlaw of the earth,
        Of ancient crooked will;
Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,
        I keep my secret still.

        Fools! For I also had my hour;
One far fierce hour and sweet:
There was a shout about my ears,
        And palms before my feet.

I have just participated in an internet movie quiz in which photos were shown of 45 western stars and the viewer was asked to identify each of them. At the end of the quiz I was told that whereas, all-time, the average success rate was 95% I had scored 100% recognition and that that I had beaten 67% of contestants.

However before I started to break out the champagne and imagine myself among the Cogersons/Lensmans/Breen-Robisons of Movie Counters I had to recognise the factors that I mention in Part Two.

        1. PART TWO – Quiz Story!

1/All the 45 men [the subjects were not unisex] were “golden oldies” – the Usual Suspects of yesteryear such as The Duke, Randy Scott, McCrea, Charley Bill Stuart, Jimmy Stewart and Robert Taylor [heavens, HE was Cowboy of the Century so any self-respecting Buff would have gotten HIM!]

2/Television Cowboys of the 50s-70s were included such as Eric Fleming of Rawhide, James Arness of Gunsmoke and John Russell of Lawman. Heck, growing up I had those varmints in my living room every night and when I wasn’t watching them I was dreaming about them!

Tom Mix the silent star was in the mix as well [I’m feeling witty this morning!] but regrettably Brucie was NOT included for his portrayal of Mix in Sunset nor was the director and star of the cult One Eyed Jacks, which made me think that possibly some relative of The Master had compiled the photo montage.

All in all therefore I had to accept that had the quiz centred on MODERN western stars I would not have fared nearly as well as I recognise that I am not quite the “Man for All Seasons” that you, Flora and Steve are, though possibly Dan is King of the Counters as his wonderfully comprehensive and informative lists suggest that he must know just about every movie star of all kinds who ever lived!

However the Quiz organisers told me that I could consider myself an “expert” on western stars in the eras concerned so I’ll take what I can get – move over in the bed Hirsch, there’s An Old Kid on the Block!

    1. HI ALMIGHTY ONE!

I hadn’t seen your own post when I quoted you in mine, but no harm is done as ANYTHING you say is worth repeating a hundred times and it probably makes sure my post gets read by your other worshippers on this site who mightn’t otherwise give it the time of day.

You didn’t of course put in that bit about Brando that I have added in brackets – but I bet you were THINKING it and it is certainly something that Stevie fellow would say!

Anyway if you are annoyed at my pirating your classic lines please be consoled by what Dick Van Dyke said in the detective series Diagnosis Murder when he used one of Sherlock Holmes’ ruses to trap a murderer “I steal from only the best!”

      1. Hey Bob….no problem….Joel’s words and thoughts are so good….having them posted twice seems like the proper thing to do….lol. I actually had that comment on a timer as well…..but like the page…it did not work…so WoC had to fix that as well. You getting Brando into your comment….has that ever happened before? Good stuff as always.

        1. HI BRUCE

In HP Lovecraft stories the Necronomicon is a book that acts as a gateway to contact with The Dark Gods, known as The Old ones, and that gateway is controlled by Yog Sothoth grandfather of the Great Cthulhu.

Anyone who even inadvertently has access to the Necronomicon comes under its dark spells and I guess that the Lovecraft plot line applies to me in real life in relation to Joel’s book.

Actually in my research for my response to Steve’s Brian Keith video I consulted The Master’s Dark Book and whilst there is no specific Brian Keith page in it Joel does mention on his Brando page Reflections in a Golden Eye in which Keith had a supporting role.

The Ironic thing is that whilst critics generally [and even you if I remember correctly] disliked Brando’s performance in Reflections the exceptions were the great David Shipman [author of renowned biographies of Brando, Olivier, Hitchcock, Chaplin and my Deanna]- and surprisingly Hirsch albeit in a qualified manner.

Seeming to blame the script for much of what he didn’t like this site’s Dark One goes on to say “Brando’s role [in Reflections] of the repressed homosexual officer was realized with depth, despite a somewhat actorish approach to the part.”

  5. Cogerson did not set up his post of the day the correct way. So I am attempting to fix this for him while we are on the road. Sorry for the delayed information.
