So while updating our Nicolas Cage page…..I was doing some research on the internet….when I stumbled across something pretty interesting. When you type in “Charlton Heston Movies Ranked” this is what Google pulls up.
Not only is Google making our website the first page listed (which is always a good thing)….they are actually listing our Top 5 ranked UMR movies….they are even letting internet searchers know that there are 57 more Heston movies ranked on our website. In the past Google has driven me crazy….on our second website…you could not find our pages even if you wrote “Bruce Cogerson Ranks 62 Charlton Heston Movies Best To Worst” in the search box. So needless to say…we are very happy that Google is doing their search results this way.
So I will probably be spending the rest of the night seeing how many times Google has done this on our movie subjects. Elizabeth Taylor…yes it does…Alan Ladd….no it does not…..Cary Grant….this could take awhile.
Awesome news. Glad Google is seeing the value of this website.
Thank you Helakoski
I get that page too when I google Charlton Heston Movies Ranked, google loves Cogerson! Congrats Bruce.
Btw the word ‘rank’ or ‘ranked’ also translates as “an offensive odor”, “smells bad” and “stinks to high heaven” I don’t think old Chuck would have been amused. 😉
Hey Steve….thanks for the England update on the Google searches….sorry that it does not translate well for Chuck. On my keyword searches….”Rank” and “Ranking” are a Top 10 result when it comes to movies….it is not better than “Best” “Worst” “Box Office”….but it is right there with “List” and “Filmography”. Appreciate your help.
Well I did a couple of searches but other than Heston I did not see what you are seeing, I see your site in the Top 5 but not like how you posted. Not sure how it is different, but it appears so in my area. Sorry I did not bear better news.
It………could be………..on which……….device you do……..the search……..on. I……am………on my……..i-Phone. How……you write…..using all the…….periods is beyond……………me.
Hey Stein HOF…..I love this comment…it made me laugh. I guess you have noticed that I like to use the “…..” As for your comment…that could have something to do with it. thanks for the input.
Thank you for checking that out Stein HOF….it is greatly appreciated. Mmmmm so Heston is showing up almost everywhere….I wonder if I have Steve Lensman to thank for that. Don’t worry I have no plans to kill the messenger….lol. Thanks again.
On the West Coast your website has good google rankings. I checked about 10 of your subjects. 3 of them Charleton Heston, Betty Grable and Barbara Stanwyck popped up with your rankings on the search results. The other 7 or so showed your website in the top 5 or 6 but there was no “box” with your or IMDb. Hope that helps.
Hey Troutman….thanks for the West Coast information. I greatly appreciate you doing that. Good to know Google really likes our Heston, Grable and Stanwyck pages.
So…we did some quick research….seems Google is adding a “box” at the top of the search results. Of the 100 or so searches we did….the “box” only shows up about half the time. When the box shows up….UMR is showing up about a third of the time….with IMDb showing up about half the time…and other different sites show up the rest of the time.
According to WoC….Google must have identified our website as a “quality resource site”….so it seems we are in the same group as IMDb….which we will take. Now the question is….is this only happening in my area?…my country? If anybody outside the USA would take the time to do some “Random Thespian Movies Ranked” searches….we would be real curious if these “new” Google boxes are occurring in other places as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
