  1. The Bridges boys are true box star attractions. That picture of the three of them together is fabulous. For a fact I love Jeff Bridges in nearly everything he’s been in. Not so much The Baker Boys. He played a great evil guy in Ironman, an incredible singer in Crazy Heart, an alien in Starman and so many other amazing roles. Loved this breakdown of their film

  2. Very interesting. I love the Big Labowski and Blown Away. Its amazing how long he has been acting. great work.

  3. Pretty interesting list. Although I’m surprised that the remake of “King Kong” was ranked as high as it was considering everyone tells me how bad it was allegedly. Anyway, keep up the good work. –

    1. Hey Stevennix…..yep King Kong is one of Bridges biggest hits….so it climbed up the charts…strictly based on that.

  4. For some reason Cogerson, most of Jeff Bridges’ movies have passed me by (perhaps I’d be more familiar with his work if he’d starred in those roles he was considered for but did not play (some he may have been rejected for, but the ones he chose to turn down – what was he thinking?!)

However, I am surprised, but pleased, to learn that ‘Starman’ – my favourite of those I have seen – got quite a high ranking, and that he got an Oscar nomination for it. It can’t be all that easy to play someone who is alien in mannerism, yet looks entirely human.

Perhaps an interesting page for a modification of your scoring system to attempt to do would be to rate the acting families of Hollywood? Based on both the numbers of close blood relatives in the profession (both acting and maybe technical crafts such as directing) and their successes – I guess the three Bridges would come pretty high up the list, as would the Barrymores and Fondas among others.

    Thanks for another interesting page.

    1. Hey Alun….yep Starman was a critical hit and Bridges got a much deserved Oscar nomination….thanks for the comment and the compliment

  5. Hi Bruce; At first, I didn’t think too much of Jeff Bridges, when he was making films like “King Kong” and “Tron”. But after he made “Tucker’ and “the Baker Boys” he turned a corner for me. He’s really gotten to be an excellent actor. “Crazyheart’ and “True Grit” were both outstanding performances. He’ll probably be mostly remembered as ‘the Dude’ but he’s done a lot of impressive work over the years. He’s much more talented than brother Beau, and arguably better than dad, too.

(I can’t believe that weak ‘King Kong’ remake was in the top five.)

    Another interesting, informative page.

    Rob –

    1. Hey Rob….thanks for stopping by. King Kong was a pretty big hit….so it got lots of points in my rankings for that….I remember seeing that movie in a packed house. Thanks for the kind words.
