I was going to say Zero Dark Thirty was probably the first film I saw him in and than I saw the two Star Wars films on the chart. He played the young Uncle Owen.
I’ve seen 14 of the 34 films on the chart. I think that’s more than was included on the chart in total when I looked at it yesterday! 😉
Favorites are – Star Wars II & III, The Thing and Zero Dark Thirty.
Red Sparrow was interesting, very violent, naughty and well worth a look for Jennifer Lawrence fans. I thought Joel was a miscast and unmemorable pharaoh in Ridley Scott’s Exodus. I mean could there possibly be a better Rameses than Yul Brynner? De Niro? Day-Lewis? Jason Statham? fuggedit.
Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!
Hey Steve. Thanks for coming back to the complete Joel Edgerton page. I can not place when I started noticing Joel. I actually do not remember his part in his two Star Wars movies. Having seen 27 of his movies…you would think I would remember that piece of trivia. I agree with you about Joel in Exodus….which is saying something….since that movie got ripped for it’s casting choices. Joel and Yul…..makes sense to me…lol.
I looked in on this new page a couple of times only to see that it was just half-completed and the words of Rex Harrison’s impatient Pope Julius 2nd to Heston’s Michelangelo in 1965’s The Agony and the Ecstasy came back to me. The Pope appeared every now and again as Michelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling and Julius kept shouting up to Michelangelo “When will you make an end to it Buonarroti?” !
I am not familiar with Joel’s work, the only film that I have ever seen him in being 2013’s The Great Gatsby in which he played Tom Buchanan Daisy’s husband and I can’t remember him too much from that. Indeed I remember more clearly Barry Sullivan’s Tom Buchanan in Laddie’s 1949 Great Gatsby
But he is one Joel who is obviously a very talented guy but despite his prolific output*** [3 releases this year for example] his reported net worth is $3 million which is not vertiginous compared with many others and Joel has done a lot of TV and stage work as well as acting for 22 years in movies. Edward Norton for example who debuted just 2 years before Joel has apparently accumulated a net worth of $80 million.
However Bruce’s word’s good enough for me and I therefore accept that Joel merits his page on this site. So “Voted Up” for Bruce’s usual fine attention by to detail.
***EXTRA TRIVIA Today’s guys would have to be going some though to match the production lines of the early years of movies. For example Archie Leach made 40 films between 1932 and 1941 inclusive, that’s an annual average of 4 with a high 7 in 1932 – astonishing!
Hey Bob….Joel seems to be getting bigger and bigger with each additional year. Some mornings I quickly put together a page….Friday morning was the first time the required updates did not finish before having to leave for work….so thus..we ended up with a 1/3 page for almost 8 hours. As for more Joel….he directed and starred in The Gift…..that was a surprise hit both at the box office and with critics. Now he has Boy Erased…which is his second directed movie….and getting some Oscar buzz. I think he will start hitting your radar more often. Good trivia….the stars of yesteryear made so many movies compared to the stars today. Good stuff.
HI BRUCE
Thanks for the update on Joel’s career But no more “Sistine Chapels” please. You kept me on tenterhooks with the one in Joel’s case!
Hey Bob…you are welcome….though it should be noted….Joel has not reached enough stardom to have a Box Office Mojo page…..well….at least he has an UMR page…lol.
Joel is updated….34 movies already. My thoughts. I have seen a shocking 27 of his movies….or 79.41% of his movies…my first miss is Boy Erased which just opened in theaters today. Favorites include Midnight Special, Warrior, Black Mass and The Gift. To be honest…I have no memory of his role in this Star Wars movies. I seem to get him mixed up with Jeremy Renner…which is odd because I do not think they look alike.
bad cogerson bad cogerson
I am of course only kidding. How you find the time to do all this and work is beyond me. Looking forward to the other movies.
Hey Taylor… I figured. I actually tried to come home for lunch and fix it, but things got a little crazy at school. I must have thought about Joel’s page only showing about a 1/3 of his movies 50 to 100 times today. But….all is right in the UMR world again. Thanks for the picking…and the kind words.
Hey Taylor….I am glad I did not wait on it…I have to leave for school at 8:05 AM….I started that part of the website update at 7:15…usually it takes about 20 minutes…..this morning it did not finish until almost 8:30 AM…..I would have been so late…..so I take the “bad Cogerson”….I should have planned my time better….lol.
Bad time management on my part. The required update to get the Joel movies to the website was not finished before I went to work. So until I finalize that update this page will be incomplete. Sorry about that.
