Hey Dan. Good trivia lists on Jonah Hill. I am not aware of his sister at all….I guess I need to do some research on her. Surprised he fell off the Oracle list…..he has been very very busy. He has a chance to have a nice long career. Looking at the first list…..Paul Rudd (one of my favorites) is his most frequent Oracle co-star. As for the second list…24 is pretty impressive…especially with so many comedies on his movie resume. Good stuff as always.
I saw 17 including top 9. no 10s, no favorites, 9: Django unchained. lots of 8s. 19 movies cross the 100,000,000 adj B.O. mark. hidden gems : Moneyball, the wolf of wall street (these 2 hill had best supporting actor Oscar nominations) and the 40 year old virgin.
hugely successful with what I called “adolescent humor” which in the 21st century may be called “under 30 humor” this generations bob hope or jerry lewis or abbott and Costello. comedy is so hard to rank, it very rarely reaches consensus , for Hill to have 26 movies with 70% review or higher is remarkably consistent entertainment. on any given day I might loathe or love the same comedy just depending on my mood.
Hey bob cox…..thanks for the thoughts on Jonah Hill. Tally count. Cogerson 42, Steve 25 and you at 17. The Wolf of Wall Street is considered in very high regard with younger people. My two older children treat this like Steve treats Ben-Hur and the other Bob treats Shane. Good breakdown of his stats….both are impressive….the 19 over $100 million and 26 over 70%. He is putting together a very solid career. Good points about judging comedy.
I’ve seen 25 of the 42 Jonah Hill films on the chart, beat that Bruce! [cue Bruce grinning]
Favorites include – Wall of Wolf Street, Django Kill, Megabad, Supermind, A Day at the Museum, Who Hears a Horton, The LEG-O Movies, How to Drain Your Flagon 1 & 2, 21-22 Jump Avenue and Remembering Sarah Marshall.
A busy actor I wondered if he was first billed on any of those films… yes he was first billed on the two Jump Street films, Channing Tatum billed second. There may be more.
Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!
HI STEVE
Jonah got top billed in 5 other movies:
Superbad
Get Him to the Greek
Sitter
True Story
War Dogs.
Excellent answer to Steve’s billing question. You are the man Bob.
Hey Steve….well 25 is pretty impressive….I wonder if I can top that….let me see….counting.. 41 in a row….thinking I was going to be 42 for 42 and then Strange Wilderness keeps me from perfection. I guess I will have to watch that comedy from Adam Sandler’s production company. I have seen all of your favorites…I really enjoyed Dragon 1, Lego 1, and both Skip Streets. Your titles kept mixing me up…but good comment anyway. As for your question about his billing…Bob comes to your rescue. Good stuff.
JONAH COMMENTS CONTINUED
6/Good solid Interesting Facts above from Bruce. Not being very familiar with Jonah’s movies and having seen none of his TV or other work I cannot quarrel with the estimate that he is the top professional swearer; but from personal experience my own money would have been on one or other of Pesci/DeNiro/Willis [or Carole Lombard of yesteryear in private life!].
7/However maybe Jonah picked up his bad swearing habit from too many viewings of his Top 5 movies favourite Goodfellows!
8/On September 23, 2019 it was reported that Hill was in final negotiations to play the villain in Matt Reeves’s The Batman. However, an agreement was not reached and Hill eventually departed the project.
9/. I can find no other projects in the pipeline for him at the moment but this year Hill has already appeared (1) as himself in an episode of the TV series Curb Your Enthusiasm (2) alongside director Martin Scorsese in a commercial for Coca-Cola Energy titled Show Up which aired during Super Bowl LIV
Why is a still from Casino included above? Because of the Hill/Pesci/DeNiro swearing ‘competition’?
Hey Bob…that Casino picture was from our James Woods page…I did replace it with another Marty Scorsese movie.
Hey Bob….I think he has the director’s bug now. From what I read, he really enjoyed his experience on directing Mid90s. Heck he even got a small amount of Oscar buzz for that one. I suspect that might be why he does not have many jobs lined up right now. His commercial was with one of the greats…Mr. Scorsese.
As for Batman…I think he would have made a good villain…but now we will never know…kinda like when Robin Williams almost played the Riddler…..good information as always.
1/I have seen 3 of Jonah’s movies: Night at the Museum 2009; Megamind/and Wolf of Wall Street.
2/On top of his film career Wikipedia credits him with 15 TV presentations including 12 series; one [Megamind] video game in 2010; and 4 music videos between 2011 and 2019.
3/IMDB credits him with 8 acting awards and a massive 63 noms.
4/Jonah is listed 28th on Forbes magazine’s ranking of world’s highest-paid actors from June 2014 to June 2015 bringing in $16 million. The Celebrity Net Worth site opines that his current net worth overall is approx $50 million.
5/He is clearly a diversely talented character who works hard and therefore deserves this new page.
Hey Bob. Thanks for checking out our Jonah Hill Movie Ranking Page. War Dogs is the one I think you might enjoy. It is based on a true story, I was very surprised how much I liked that one. Thanks for the additional information on Mr. Hill. He has been a very busy actor. Good stuff.
