This was the very first page written for UMR.com. Boy did it need a face lift. I was recently reading “Conversations with Classic Film Stars” by James Bawden and Ron Miller, when I came across this little nugget from the Dunne interview.
Irene Dunne ” My favorite scene (in My Favorite Wife) had Ellen (her character) taking a shy, meek shoe clerk – wonderfully played by Chester Clute – to visit husband Cary and try to persuade him this was the man she’d been on the island with. The conclusion of that movie was so close to Awful Truth I get them mixed up in my mind”
I find it interesting that I have the same problem as Dunne…..I also get the endings of My Favorite Wife and The Awful Truth mixed up….and I have seen both movies many times. Heck if the lead actress in both of those movies had that problem…then I guess I can forgive myself too.
