The Greer Garson page and the Burt Lancaster will be the last of the new material for a little bit. Headed to the golf capital of the USA….Myrtle Beach.

Talked Emily (our 7 year old) into a helicopter ride…..proud day!
Excellent! I was a child when I was flying with my father as his copilot.
I know he wanted me to continue flying to get my pilot’s licence, but as I aged, I had other interests.
Hey Flora….she was very proud of herself….she is doing so much more this trip compared to the last time we were here….which was only 8 months ago. Very cool about your father and flying.
[mumbles incoherently yawns] … oh there you are! I just popped in to say hi and I hope you’re enjoying your vacation to… where was it again? Hawaii? Barbados? Cyprus? The Planet Mars? And I’m sure we’re all looking forward to your next epic film page – pulse, no pulse, male, female, method, Shakespearian.. bring em on! I’ll have the spellchecker and box office calculator standing by.
The last new film I watched? Let me think… oh yes, Elvis & Nixon. I liked it. Loosely based on a real event. Michael Shannon doesn’t look or sound anything like Elvis but he captures his mannerisms perfectly, Kevin Spacey is superb as Tricky Dicky. Recommended. [Exits stage left]
AFTERNOON STEVE
1 Agreed Spacey superb as Tricky. Just as good though was Frank Langella in Nixon and Frost Langella is a brilliant actor who doesn’t get much of a mention these days. Was great too in another political drama Clooney’s Good Night and Good Luck.
2 For my money though the definitive portrayal of ‘Daddy Watergate’ was Jason Robards in the TV series Washington Behind Closed Doors. Tricky was actually called Richard Monkton in that one and what I think gave Jason’s performance the edge was that he brought out the alleged nasty streak in Dicky to a greater extent than the other two and was more chillingly serious than Spacey.
3 Like you I thought that Elvis and Nixon must have been very loosely based on the actual event some of it was so ridiculous but if you read on the Internet the reproduction of the actual notes taken by aides during the Elvis encounter you will see that dialogue whilst not verbatim was not too much exaggerated and that Elvis saw the Beatles as spreading anti-American Communistic influence among the young and offered to assist the authorities in outing them.
4 Some historians reckon that by 1970 when he met Nixon the drugs that Elvis took were having such an effect on him that he could not always distinguish reality. By 1976 he was starting to imagine people were trying to kill him and it is reported that just before he died he spoke on the phone to Jimmy Carter and asked the President to intervene in a plot to kill a deputy sheriff who was a friend of Elvis.
5 A sad end for one of the greatest and most influential pop singers ever. I loved his voice.
6 Anyway I agree with u Steve that it was a very funny and enjoyable film
Regards
BOB
PS Paul McCartney in a later interview said of Elvis’s allegations to Nixon that the Beatles were a bad influence on youth because of their drug habits and the other bad examples they set, that the drug allegations were particularly ironic in that he, Paul was still alive whereas the drugs killed Elvis. Paul also said that when he met Elvis he detected no animosity towards the Beatles so that when he later read of the tirade to Nixon he was greatly surprised. ;

1 When we return from our holiday in early Aug my wife and I are getting a cat.
2 We used to have lots of them but it has been years since our last one so I may be looking for some tips from you.
BOBBY
Thanks for advice. We’ve had both genders before
Dog person here…though I think the next pet we get will be a cat.
Hey Steve…our vacation is rapidly coming to a conclusion….but we have had a blast in Myrtle Beach. Go carts, movies (Secret Life of Pets), the ocean, amusement parks, golf, helicopter rides, water parks…..hoping we have enough money to make it back….lol.
The only bad thing was our first room sprung a leak….caused some serious damage to the room and some of our stuff….including my movie gross data book that I have been putting together for the last 5 years…lost some of my Warner Brother Ledgers papers…sniff sniff.
Glad you liked Elvis & Nixon….that is now two good reviews….from you and Bob. I imagine your video page is starting to fill up with new videos….I will catch up soon. What’s next here? Lots of projects…Walter Pidgeon…..an interview with my father in law ….who grew up helping his dad run a 600 seat movie theater in the 1940s and 1950s…..and a look at hitting 7 million views. I will be busy when I get back….thanks for the comment.
I see my spelling is still at issue.
Hey Flora….it sure does not hurt. I appreciate all the times you share the links…..I was running some maintenance stuff….and it said the website has over 17,000 back links….and that comes from people sharing the links…so thanks for all of your support.
Your welcome.
I must admit that I am glad you are on vacation this week as I have been too busy to comment in length as I would like to do.
My references to viewing rankings is really low.
Bad spelling! I minored in English.
You’re welcome, NOT Your.
Bad…..really bad……
LOL!

1 Do you remember the scenes in Forrest Gump where he ran all over America followed by a band of ‘disciples’ until one day he suddenly stopped and announced to the rest of the runnersthat he wanted to run no more?
2 If you recall that scene you will know that they were all dumbfounded at his decision and stood about aimlessly asking each other “What are we going to do now?”
3 We mustn’t be like THEM Flora in case Bruce gets the impression he is indispensable to us so keep the post rolling even if you are busy. Besides the remainder of us want to hear from you.
Okay, Robert.
I did have a bit of an issue when my computer crashed, but I’ll try to keep that in mind.
Meanwhile, as Bruce is away my cat is thrilled.
I will however be focused on my favourites only….
or not.
Sorry I have not beeen on this site lately, but as I mentioned- computer issues….
