July 25th – My Backyard Golf Course – Cogerson Links

Let’s see in 2013….I decided to watch as many movies as I could….end result…I watched 1,418 movies.

In 2014…I decided I wanted to see if I could watch at least one movie every day for the entire year.  Mission accomplished…and I again crossed 1,000 movies watched for the year.

I pretty much behaved myself in 2015….though I still watched over 700 movies.

Which gets us to 2016.  Beyond my backyard is a 9.5 acre park.  When we first moved here (in 2014)….we found some snakes and a possum right behind the fence that separates our yard from the park.  Well I went out there and cut that tall grass in hopes of keeping the critters away from the house.  As I was standing in that park….I thought….I could hit some golf balls out here….especially if the grass was shorter.

So I started my push lawnmower and cut a small path through the park.  Well by the end of the summer of 2014 I had created a nice little chipping area in that park.  When the summer of 2015 came around…I started thinking….maybe a little putting green area would go nicely with my chipping area.  By the end of the summer…I had made 3 golf holes in that park…..complete with a tee area, a fairway and a green.  So at the start of summer of 2016, I figured I would take a cue for the Lorax….and I figured I “keep on biggering and biggering”.  Now our Ultimate Movie Rankings golf course has 9 Par 3 holes.  And with the help of a friend and his drone….we can bring you some pictures of my homemade golf course.

The entry point to the golf course. I get to walk right out of my back door right on to the course.

This is the hole #1. And gives you a feel for how the park looks.

This is the famous Sawgrass Island hole. You either get it on the green or it is in the water.

This is our version....the distance is correct....the green is the same dimension...we are just missing the water.
This is our version of the TPC Sawgrass island hole….the distance is correct….the green is the same size…we are just missing the water.  We play the hole the same way…..it is either on the green or the ball is considered to be in the water.  Needless to say….if I played the real hole the way I play my fake hole….I would lose many many golf balls.

Our 9th green…..that x at the bottom of the picture is the shadow of the drone. Go around our course twice….and the 19th hole is only a few steps away.

Well that is a tour of the Ultimate Movie Rankings golf course….it might not be the prettiest golf course…..but the free green fees can’t be beat!

  1. HEY, that is awesome – photos taken by a drone. I just love the way your house looks and with the pool in the backyard. The course looks super – what a great imagination to do that. I know you have had a lot of fun and IT IS NOT CRAZY AT ALL, just your mother’s opinion of course, ha, ha, ha. Hey, great exercise as well just outside your gate – now all you need is a golf cart to get around, ha, ha, ha. Enjoy your mini golf course.

    1. Thanks BERN1960….thanks for sharing my madness with the rest of the family…lol. I think it turned out well…..and I think there is room for more holes…lol. I think I will just borrow one of the neighbor’s ATVs…..which seem to love going out there at night and messing up my course…do they not know that public park belongs to me?….lol.

    1. Hey Katie…you know…I am getting tired of you always taking your mother’s side in these discussions…..lol.

  2. Very nice. Lots and lots of space to play in. Watch out for the snakes though. Do alligators slowly walk by while you’re playing golf? 🙂 I saw that photo in a newspaper a few months ago it was like a dinosaur invaded that golf course.

    1. Hey Steve….watching out for snakes is the biggest problem for sure….granted on a real course that would be the same issue especially the ones by water. I feel pretty safe that no alligaters will be walking my course…deer yes…..gators no….if I hit a ball in the woods….the snake can have it….I will go and get the ball back in the winter when the snakes are asleep….lol.

    1. Hey Laurent…thanks for checking out my golf course…..I have had a blast playing on that course…my little girls are learning how to hit out there….they like it when the grass is really short….gotta make them happy….lol.

  3. You are a crazy man. That might be why I married you, so please stay crazy. I love you.

    1. Thank you Wife of Cogerson…..I will try my best…good thing it won’t take much effort on my part to stay crazy…lol. Pictures turned out awesome.
