July 28th – Trivia Question That I Do Not Know The Answer – If There Is Even An Answer – Need Help

Last night I watched The Girl With All The Gifts.  In that one 6-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close gets eaten by a pack of zombies.  This made me ask….has an Oscar winner ever been eaten by zombies?

  1. I have no idea. But I have been amazed by all the answers. I would never had guessed there would be so many possible answers.

    1. Hey Helakoski. Lots of close answers but it looks like zombies have not gotten an Oscar winner. Maybe an alternate Zombieland ending takes down Oscar winner Emma Stone….lol. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I guess there are two Oscar winners that have been in a zombie movie. As Mark wrote Brad Pitt as well. Granted he won his Oscar as a producer versus a actor.

    1. Hey Stewart….yep you are correct…Pitt got an Oscar for 12 Years A Slave….too bad he did not get eaten in World War Z….lol. Thanks again for your awesome answers…it is greatly appreciated.

  3. Great question. Not thinking it has happened yet. I can only think of one Oscar winner who has even appeared in a Zombie movie. Ms. Emma Stone in Zombieland. Zombieland actually has a grand total of 5 Oscar nominated performers. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, Stone and of course Bill Murray. I guess you could say that it is the Citizen Kane of Zombie movies.

    1. Hey Stewart….thanks for your answers to my trivia question. I had forgotten all about Zombieland….but you are right…5 Oscar nominated performers in that one movie….and far as I can tell…Emma Stone is the only Oscar winner that is even in a zombie movie….excluding Pitt the producer…which is in the second part of your comment. I just did a comment that said…maybe there is a deleted scene/alternate ending that shows zombies getting Stone…lol.

So I think….it is safe to say that eventually zombies will get them an Oscar winner….lol.

      1. Greetings from England,
An interesting trivia question! Dean Jagger won an Oscar for Twelve O’Clock High in 1949; earlier, in 1936, he had appeared in Revolt of the Zombies. It’s about 10 years since I saw this B movie, but I think he was shot by his servant after he had turned him into a zombie. So, whilst zombies in the mid-thirties weren’t allowed to have an appetite, pretty close! Late in his career Ray Milland, Oscar winner for The Lost Weekend, did an obscure TV movie called The Dead Don’t Die that featured a character called Varek the Zombie Master. Again, highly unlikely that zombies would be chomping away on prime time TV! The final film made by George Sanders, Oscar winner for All About Eve, was a pretty poor movie (with a modest cult following) called Psychomania in 1972. Nicky Henson is the leader of the Living Dead bikers, who rise from their graves (bikes and all), and wreck havoc. I can’t remember much detail, but I doubt there was a banqueting scene . . .
Congratulations on your website, which I like very much. I am fascinated by box office performance and have carried out my own ad hoc research for years. Something concrete on the Duke’s B westerns for Lone Star/Monogram would be quite something! Dave J.

        1. Hey David…..thanks so much for some great answers. Your knowledge of classic movies is very every impressive. Sanders, Milland and Jagger are right up there with Emma Stone as the best answers yet.

Thanks for the very kind words about our website. Glad you discovered it. As for Wayne and his B westerns…we have 90 of Wayne’s listed….and some are from his B movies days….but there are many many more that we have no idea what they made. https://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/john-wayne-movies/

Still we search every day looking for hidden box office treasue….lol.
