  1. Hi

June Allyson was a natural girl next door type. Similar to Doris Day and Debbie Reynolds. I recently watched her in the Glen Miller story. She always came across very sweet. But her career seemed to fade out by the late 50’s. Did she retire or go on to T.V.?
She had great chemistry with James Stewart and Van Johnson.

    1. Hey Chris. I agree she was in an excellent group of the girl next door types. Day, Reynolds, Donna Reed and June. She and Stewart made a great screen team in all three movies they made together. As for her career….she pretty much stopped acting by the 1960s. Mainly due to the wealth she and husband Dick Powell had collected….she pretty much retired to take care of her family. Good feedback.

  2. Ah June, the actress who wore the same hairstyle for 60 years or so. June was never on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. These are the only people on the 2016 list who appeared in a film with her.

      1. Very cool. How many movies are in your movie collection? I have about 1200 but that is just my DVDs and Blu-Rays. Steve has kept all the different versions he has bought. All my VHS tapes, laserdiscs and HD videos are long gone.

        1. About 2550 not counting shorts though it includes serials and a lot are on VHS. I do occasional cleanouts, of course I keep track of them. These films all on VHS and from television were thrown out November 12.

          1. Hey Dan….very cool…..thanks for the total movie inventory. I remember when I broke down and sold my VHS tapes…..this was when DVDs just took off….we had a yard sale…..and the ones that did not sell….ended up at a thrift store. So I know how it is to clean up your collection. I have about 200 DVDs sitting in a downstairs closet that I am trying to figure what to do with. I have even thought about doing giveways here….but who wants a dvd these days…..streaming is where everything is at these days. Very cool that you kept a list of the ones that left the collection….that seems like a smart idea.

    1. Hey Dan
      1. Compared to other lists you have provided these are pretty small.
      2. Looking at the first list,Mickey Rooney might be the one that can stay in the Top1000….but even will start tumbling now.
      3. The second list has lots of the “regulars”…..along with some legends.
      4. 20 Oscar winners is on the lie side…especially considering all those years spent at MGM.
      5. Funny about her never changing hairstyle…I guess you gotta stick with what works….lol.

  3. Thanks for the video share Bruce, mucho apreciado.

I’ve seen just 7 of June Allyson’s films, favorites include – The Three Musketeers, Girl Crazy and Strategic Air Command.

I can’t remember if I’ve seen The Glenn Miller Story before. I must have.

Looking at the grosses – The Three Musketeers was a big moneymaker worldwide, did Glenn Miller beat it worldwide? we might never know, but musicals were huge back then.

Enjoyed the trivia. Good work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve
      1. Glad to share your Allyson page. About to check your latest videos as well.
      2. Tally count….19 for Flora, 7 for you and 4 for me. Wow our total of 11 almost gets doubled by Flora….and we thought we were movie fans.
      3. My four watched are The Stratton Story, The Glenn Miller Story, Executive Suite and Woman’s World.
      4. Somehow I have managed not to see The Three Musketeers……I have to assume that The Glenn Miller Story would top The Three Musketeers but it might have been close.
      5. Glad you like the trivia…..appreciated the visit….and the feedback.
