Want to know the best Kate Winslet movies? How about the worst Kate Winslet movies? Curious about Kate Winslet box office grosses or which Kate Winslet movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Kate Winslet movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.
Kate Winslet (1975-) is an English actress and singer. She has won an Academy Award®, an Emmy® Award, four Golden Globe Awards® and a Grammy Award®. Her IMDb page shows over 60 acting credits since 1991. This page will rank Kate Winslet movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows and movies that were not released in North American theaters were not included in the rankings. To do well in our overall rankings a movie has to do well at the box office, get good reviews by critics, be liked by audiences and get some award recognition.
Drivel part of the page: For some reason I decided it would be good idea to write a new movie page every other day in January. Well this Kate Winslet page was researched, written and published on January 31st, 2016. Which means we accomplished our goal. Overall we wrote 20 movie pages in the month. Michael E., who is one of my wife’s co-workers, requested this page and 4 others a few months ago. Well we have finally fulfilled that request 100%.

Kate Winslet is not in my opinion a box office star who can open a movie; and I feel Bruce’s tables above when examined support that view. Nonetheless she has had considerable personal commercial and artistic success.
Celebrity Net Worth site assesses her current net worth at $45 million and IMDB credits her with overall 89 acting awards and 157 nominations. The Work Horse ranks her a very respectable 17th in his list of the 25 most legendary actresses of all nationalities from 1950-2010. She doesn’t though get a mention in his book even on page 16 which lists the top 25 females outside the 10 actresses which that book includes in its all-time “Top 50 Movie Stars of both genders statistically speaking”.
However IMDB ranks her a high 8th in its official 100 Greatest Actresses of All Time just one place below Liz Taylor and above other prestigious Brits like Helen Mirren and Judi Dench and American Giants such as Shirley MacLaine/Jane Fonda/Grace Kelly/Barbara Stanwyck; my Doris and Cogerson’s THIN Queen.
Overall therefore Katie could be regarded as one of Britain’s most professionally successful actresses in the modern era and possibly of all time up to now. She is currently filming both Avatar 2 and an initially 7-episode TV series; and has already 3 further movies at post-production stage.
I have just finished watching her in 2011’s Mildred Pierce a 5 part TV miniseries with Kate in the old Crawford role though Kate being allowed to be seen doing much more overtly naughty things on screen than my Joan was able to get up to though Joaney would no doubt have liked to do them! Parts 2 and 3 later this evening.
Hi Bob, thanks for the review, generous rating, info and trivia, much appreciated.
Glad you liked the saucy posters and saucy stills featuring saucy Kate.
When I saw Peter Jacksons Heavenly Creatures back in the early 90s little did I realise that one of the girls would become a highly respected British actress. It’s a film I rarely watch, the two girls are annoying and their crime is inexcusable. No death penalty since they were teenagers and both were released from prison 5 years later.
Five films scored 10 out of 10 from my saucies… sorry, sources- Quills, Little Children, Hamlet, Heavenly Creatures and Sense & Sensibility.
Four films scored 9 – The Reader, Finding Neverland, Eternal Sunshine and Titanic.
Eternal Sunshine tops both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes charts, also my video chart and Bruce’s critics chart.
Winona Ryder on Kate Winslet – “I’m captivated by her. I think that she’s the most beautiful, talented, extraordinary actresses ever to grace the screen. I watch her movies over and over. It’s kind of like one of those kids how they were with Elvis. I mean, I worship her… I met her once, and I was tongue-tied, and palms were sweating… There’s something about her that I’m sort of in love with. I just think she’s amazing.”
“People are always so excited to see Leo and myself in the same space, which at the end of the day, that’s so lovely, isn’t it? It’s been 20 years and people still get such a kick out of it. It’s really quite endearing. And we do laugh about it. Oh my God, can you actually believe it that people still get so overwhelmed by the Jack and Rose thing?”
Saucy Kate Winslet on pubic hair maintenance – “Let me tell you, The Reader was not glamorous for me in terms of body-hair maintenance. I had to grow it in, because you can’t have a landing strip in 1950, you know? And then because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough. I said, ‘Guys, I am going to have to draw the line at a pubic wig, but you can shoot my own snatch up close and personal.'”

HI STEVE:
As I’ve said before informed and thoughtful feedback from you is for me the “icing on the cake” which crowns your original always very entertaining videos – many thanks.
Kate with her lovely speaking voice and wholesome looks has often been referred to as an “English rose”. Canuck Deanna Durbin in her day had the screen persona of the ultimate Girl Next Door/Miss Goody Two Shoes. Yet she like Kate was fond of talking in pubic [sorry: public!] about matters that in Durbin’s day were bold/sensitive/controversial – see Part 2.
I often think that in Kate and Deanna there has always been a Monroe/Gabor or saucy Dolly Sister trying to get out. Conversely it could be that The Foul-Mouthed male Big Three -Willis/DeNiro/Peski [ie idols of The Work Horse] who possibly invented the F word and run around on screen beating everybody up say their prayers in real life before going to bed at night.
Anyway keep safe and “carry on”.
HI BRUCE
Thanks for the feedback on my posts.
Great that the Cogerson clan enjoyed themselves in NJ.
I would have made the same mistake as you had I not known beforehand that Ginger Baker was male.
I think you and I as movie buffs are locked into that Hirschhorn-Astaire Rogers psychology where anyone called ‘Ginger’ is automatically considered a woman.
“Will no one rid me of this woman?”
[Paraphrasing of Henry 2 speaking about Thomas Becket]
Hey Bob….as I was scrambling looking for a post for the day….when I saw Kate Winslet’s name…I just knew I had to include it…..originally the plan was to let Joker, Joaquine and Bobby DeNiro have the weekend….but Kate’s birthday was a nice addition…at least in my mind. Good weekend for the Cogersons…went to New Jersey to see the grand kids.
HI BRUCE. Yes: it’s great meeting up with the grand kids so no wonder you had a grand time. [No pun intended].
Indeed there’s a nice little Dan-like link, known only to me, hidden in your post because last night I went with my grandson and most of my own family to see ‘Joker’.
It’s well worth the 86% for review that you award it, but whilst it is a movie that I will probably always admire, it is not one that I’ll be lifting off the shelf annually along with Judy’s Meet Me in St Louis, Bing’s White Christmas and Mitchum’s Holiday Affair to help build up the Christmas feel-good factor!
[There’s another supposed Xmas movie that we keep away from the kids as some guy in a Santa hat [covering what today is a bald head] charges around cursing and swearing in it! George Bailey would never have approved.
However in ‘Joker’ Joaquin and DeNiro [in a small but important part] are terrific; it was great to again hear Ginger Baker and the boys singing White Room in the film [as mentioned by Dan] and I see that it has already grossed around $235 million worldwide. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sly, Arnie and Harrison et all are on standby for the offer of cameos in a sequel. In that loose connection see Part 2.
RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART 2 [1985]
Opening US Weekend Gross adjusted for inflation $48 million.
“You can fool some of the people all of the time,
And all of the people some of the time.
RAMBO: LAST BLOOD [2019]
Opening weekend US gross 20 Sep: $18.8 million
Weekend US gross 27 Sep: $8.6 million
Weekend gross US 4 Oct: $3.5 million
But you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” [Uncle Abe]
Hey Bob…I was getting a kick out of people saying Rambo:Last Blood would be the biggest Rambo opening ever. To live in 1985…I remember how huge Part 2 was….Last Blood was simply…an average release with little buzz. Amazing how the numbers have changed over the last 34 years. Thanks for sharing these stats. Last Blood might reach Rambo 2’s adjusted opening weekend during it’s entire run. Good stuff.
Hey Bob…WoC and I enjoyed out time in New Jersey this weekend. DoC2 and GDofC1 saw their first concert on Saturday…as my daughter-in-law got some Carrie Underwood tickets. They had a blast….and what a memory….the first concert of a daughter and a granddaughter are the same exact one..granted they are 13 and 12.
Thanks for the mini-review of Joker. Sounds interesting. I hope to see it later this week. Good to read that Bobby D. is good in his small role. Good stuff as always.

WIKIPEDIA
“Kate Winslet supports several charities and causes. An orange top she wore in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was auctioned in 2004 for a fund-raising event at Helen & Douglas House, a hospice in Oxford. In 2006, she became a patron of a Gloucester-based charity, the Family Haven, which provides counselling services to vulnerable families. The same year, hand-made envelopes designed by Winslet were auctioned for the “Pushing the Envelope” campaign created by the National Literacy Trust. Winslet was one of the celebrities to participate in a 2007 auction to raise funds for the Afghanistan Relief Organization. In 2009, she contributed to the Butterfly Book, a compilation of doodles made by several celebrities, to raise money for leukaemia research.”
