MY GOODNESS….99 years old?…GOD BLESS HIM
Hey Tonya….99 and still going strong….I really hope his health holds out and he reaches the big 100
HAPPY BLESSED BIRTHDAY KIRK
Kirk will be 100 this time next year….maybe he can get a Today Show shout out….lol.
Really enjoyed him, and the late Burt Lancaster in the 1986 film “Tough Guys”.
Tough Guys is a fun movie to watch. Burt, Kirk and Eli Wallach….good stuff…lol.
I admire Douglas for taking on some complex and controversial themes. Just saw him in Seven Days of May. Just a brilliant film. Burt is terrifying in this. Frederic March superb.
I adore Seven Days in May and EVERYONE is brilliant in it (including, I agree, Douglas and March). My favorite performance is Edmond O’Brien as Senator Ray Clark.
Yes, you are right, O’Brian, the voice of reason.
And such a voice! “I’m gonna tell you the damnedest story you ever heard.”
Hey Matthew. O’Brien does steal the show from some of the legends in the movie.
Seven Days In May is a classic. Of all of his movies….Seven Days in May got the 4th best reviews….that is impressive.
A watershed moment for this rapidly maturing teenager was his role in “In Harms Way.” Taken by my revered 2nd cousin. I was blown away with the knowledge imparted in a first hand way of WWII, actions effecting results, rape, and black and white as a viable media for movies…. remember back then technocolour was important…. black and white and lost appeal…. this move is also John Wayne as a rough master of himself… very different than most period pieces…. gritty!
Hey Jerry. Very interesting about how In Harm’s Way impacted you. I remember when I saw this movie….the rape scene seemed to come out of nowhere. I imagine back then it had to be pretty shocking…especially the way everything was censored. I think “gritty” is a great way to describe In Harm’s Way….thanks for stopping by and commenting..it is greatly appreciated.
