For comments….all you need is a name and a comment….please ignore the rest.
Kirk Douglas is so awesome.
I agree with you.
Young Man with a Horn, Bad and the Beautiful, and that trashy one from the Jackie Susann book.
The Arrangement?
I got it…Once is Not Enough!
yikes, I had forgotten about that one Abbe.
Once Is Not Enough actually the worst reviews of any Kirk movie.
It was so bad that I actually liked it! I was in high school, and it was a big deal to see it. I can see why the leading lady quit acting.
I have not seen it…..but I like movies that are so bad that they are good…adding it to my list of movies to watch.
David Jannsen…rotten.
Deborah Raffin…rotten.
Brenda Vaccaro…over the top.
Another movie which introduced me to Robert Ryan was Susann’s The Love Machine. It started Dyan Cannon and John Phillip Law and Jackie Cooper as well. That was just sludge mixed with camp, but Jackie Cooper stole the show!
Thanks for the mini-review. Just checked it out on IMDb….interesting a 4.6 but got a Oscar nomination….Best Supporting Actress for Vaccaro…and she WON the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress….now I have to check it out.
Brenda was something else–I still remember her in it…and she was involved with Michael at the time, I think…
The List of Adrian Messenger is my favorite.
Loved List of the Adrian Messenger….fun, fun movie, Joe
The makeup jobs were amazing…..the first time I saw that I had to back up the VHS tape and re-watch all the cameo scenes.
Yes, great make up.
Don’t miss playing around with VHS tapes trying to find scenes. “Be Kind Rewind” a phrase that is fading away in history…..lol
I have a VHS recorder, but use it so seldomly….have a couple of tapes that do are not on DVD still.
Actor Jan Merlin revealed years ago that none of the actors were in the make-up in the film, rather there were doubles with life masks. He doubled for Kirk, among others.
That is disappointing to hear. Next you will be telling me there is no Santa……lol.
Kirk Douglas undeniably put his all into his acting roles.
Hey Vic…..I agree with you 100%. A living acting legend.
Can’t say it was a great movie but I really thought he was fun in “THERE WAS A CROOKED MAN” with Henry Fonda.
Hey Thomas….I have fond memories of that movie too. I love the rattlesnakes in the bag. As a kid I used to think about that all the time.
