Kurt Russell (1951-) started in the entertainment business in the early 1960s. Starting out in television, he spent his youth making movies with people like Elvis Presley in It Happened At The World’s Fair and James Stewart in Fools’ Parade. Seeing the talent Russell had, Walt Disney signed him to a 10 year contract with Disney and he became one of the top stars for Disney in the 1970s.  After 18 years of acting Kurt Russell left Hollywood and became a professional baseball player. He signed with California Angels and made it to their Double A team before an injury ended his career. At this point he returned to his acting career.

  1. I’m not sure where you are getting your info, but great topic. I needs to spend some time learning much more or understanding more. Thanks for great info I was looking for this information for my mission.

  2. Hey, I really enjoyed this one. I have seen quite a few movies of his and enjoyed them. Stargate was a good film and I enjoyed his role. Tombstone and Executive Decision were very good movies as well. Unlawful Entry had a good ending – film about obsession and stalking! Enjoyed this site. See #4 on Stats – it should read at instead of it….. INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE. Thanks.

    1. Hey BERN…..glad you like the trivia…..Mr. Russell has had a pretty good life….I can not believe he is 63 already.

  3. That’s better Bruce. Now what’s this ‘Miracle’ and why is it rated so high? [Bruce screams] 🙂

    1. Hey Steve. I was shocked that you were not aware of Miracle. I think you need to keep better track of American sports….lol. Especially since an American Football team is going to be living in London soon!

  4. “Call me Snake” Backdraft is Kurt Russell’s biggest hit, didn’t know that, good film. The Thing no.1 on the critics list, no complaints here I’m a big fan. Swing Shift no.2 above Tombstone, is that possible? I’ve seen 22 of the 42 films you’ve listed. I still haven’t seen Silkwood. Good work Bruce.

    1. Hey Steve….I have seen 36 of the 42. I was perfect on this page…but when I updated the page I went ahead and included his Disney movies which I had ignored in the past. Seems I missed many of those movies….I had never even heard of Charley and the Angel….that had to be one of Fred MacMurray’s last leading roles….and Cloris Leachman actually got a Golden Globe nomination for that movie. Yep Backdraft was pretty big….it is a shame that did not make Jurassic Park….hard to believe he let money get in the way of making a movie with Spielberg. You might have a point about Swing Shift…I could have made an error. As always thanks for the visit and the comment.

      1. Good catch Steve. I had Swing Shift a little too high. I had 5 sources for that score….I had Swing Shift’s IMDb score at 10.0 (a perfect score).. IMDb has it’s Swing Shift rating at 5.9. That adjustment takes Swing Shift from 2nd to 7th place. So either I made a mistake (which seems so unlikely) or Swing Shift has gone from a perfect score of 10.0 to 5.9 since the time I was researching this page (that has to be the answer…lol)….either way thanks for catching it. Now the Kurt Russell Top 5 Critically Acclaimed movies are The Thing, Tombstone, Miracle, Escape From New York and Grindhouse.
