  1. How did you calculate the worldwide adjusted dollars for titanic? And did you take original gross only or including 3d-re-release? And if you included the 3d, did you calculate it apart from the original gross? But most of all, HOW DID YOU CALCULATE THE WORLDWIDE ADJUSTED DOLLARS FOR TITANIC?

    1. Hey Jordie….generally….we go with whatever Box Office Mojo goes with for movies made after 1985…..when Titanic was first added into our database those re-releases had not yet been made…at the time Box Office Mojo gave those releases their own pages…..now it looks like Mojo has added in those numbers….so that gross is even higher now…..I have fixed it in my database….but currently the database is doing some maintenance so it might not show up for a few hours….thanks for the question.

    2. I’d like to edit to my question that according to the worldwide adjusted, titanic sold like 400 million tickets or more? And the worldwide adjusted earnings aren’t the same as for america, so you just took the worldwide number and adjusted it the same as for the domestic number?

      1. Hey Jordie…that is generally the way we calculate adjusted worldwide box office…..granted ticket costs are all over the board when you look at all the places in the world. It is not an exact science at all. As for Titanic….are you thinking the number is too high or too low? Mojo has the actual gross at 2.7 billion,,,,and that was over 20 years ago. Mojo does not do an adjusted gross for worldwide..but the number has to be over 4 billion. Thanks for taking the time to ask these questions…..it has let me know that we had been short changing Titanic on the domestuc side, As our website gets older…..movies we researched un 2011 might need to be revisited more often.

  2. Hello Bruce. I saw “The Revenant” yesterday and I have to say that is a very well done film. It is brutal and harsh. The cinematography of the Canadian Rockies and wilderness is superb. The plot is so similar to 1971’s “Man in the Wilderness” but with some more interesting plot elements. This is not an uplifting film but it is so well made under what looks like very harsh conditions that it may very well win the Oscar for Best Picture this year. I gave “Man in the Wilderness” three and a half stars of five (B) and “The Revenant” four and a half stars (A-).

    1. Hey Lyle….thanks for the mini-review. That is a excellent rating….because I know how much you liked Man in the Wilderness. I thought for awhile that Spotlight was going to win Best Picture….but as we get into the last days before the Oscar show…I think it is going to be The Revenant early and often when the awards get announced. Your comment got me motivated to update this page…going with the assumption that Leo wins…this will be his top ranked movie in my ranking system. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Hey Helakoski….he has grown on me the last few years. I was not a fan at all when he was a skinny young guy….but as he has matured he has won me over. Sure be a great Oscar moment when he gets his overdue Oscar.

  3. Hi

Just got back after seeing The Revenant. I have to say it is a very powerful movie. It’s not exactly for the faint hearted. If you’re looking for an upbeat happy clappy movie, then look elsewhere. DiCaprio was incredible, he definitely gave the role 100% and if he wins the Oscar, it’ll be well deserved. Tom Hardy is also superb. The young actor, Will Poulter, was excellent and the man who played the Indian Chief, his face alone deserves an Oscar.
Definitely worth seeing and if it wins Best Film, Director etc, I won’t be complaining.

    1. Hey Chris…thanks for the mini-review on The Revenant. It looks like this is Leo’s year. Almost talked my wife into seeing it on Monday….but she read a review that got her to want to avoid that one. So we saw The Big Short instead (which we both liked)….hoping to see Leo’s performance before he gets his Oscar. Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I haven’t seen The Revenant yet but going by all sites, it looks like he is a sure thing for the Oscar this year.

    1. Hey Chris….after last night’s Golden Globes….I am thinking The Revenant is going to do very well come Oscar nomination morning (next week) and Oscar show night. I see Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director going to that mean old bear and all of his crew. Thanks for stopping by.
