  1. HI BRUCE: Thanks for the solid feedback. As always you are honest and admit your unfamiliarity with a movie/actor so here’s what Wiki has to say about the TV movie and video release In Broad Daylihght:

“In Broad Daylight is a 1991 American made-for-television thriller drama film about the life of Ken McElroy, the vicious town bully of Skidmore, Missouri who became known for his unsolved murder. McElroy was fictionalized as the character Len Rowan, portrayed by Brian Dennehy. The film is based on Harry N. MacLean’s non-fiction book of the same name.” In the movie it is suggested that the townspeople ganged-up and as a group in effect executed McElroy/Rowan 71% IMDB rated

Denehey was at the height of his Video Library fame when this film was made The following year Brian played another real-life ‘monster’ in To Catch a Killer[a big hit in the early-1990s video libraries post-TV] and here’s what Wikipedia and IMDB say about it.

“To Catch a Killer is a two-part television film from 1992, directed by Eric Till and starring Brian Dennehy and Michael Riley. It is based on the true story of the pursuit of American serial killer John Wayne Gacy. “To Catch a Killer” tells the gruesome criminal history of Gacy – a good friend and helpful neighbour, a great child entertainer, a respectful businessman, BUT a covert violent serial killer who murdered over 30 young boys.” 74% IMDB rated

Brian’s sheer size made him perfectly menacing in these two roles. The Duke went nuts when anyone suggested there were similarities between him and Clint Eastwood: Wayne ‘looked down’ on Clint because the latter swore a lot in his movies and played antiheroes at times and his Inspector Harry Callahan wasn’t respectful to authority – ie his superir officers and politicians. I am therefore sure The Duke was charmed if he ever knew that a notirious serial killer had named himself John Wayne Gacy after The Duke!

  2. I saw Marcia years ago in a show called “The Years” which also featured William Fichtner, Julie Hagerty (from Airplane) and the immortal Frank Welker.

I have seen 35 of Marcia’s flics listed above (I missed 24, I know). The highest on the list I haven’t seen is “Into the Wild”.

Marcia is # 529 on the 2020 Oracle of Bacon list. These are the other actors on the list she has appeared with.

    1. Hey Dan
      1. As always thanks for putting these lists together.
      2. That is awesome that you got to see The Show….I am assuming that was on the stage…as I can not find it on IMDb.
      3. Not surprised she has a nice spot on the Oracle list. She has been very very busy.
      4. Looking at the first list….Stanley Tucci earns the honors as most frequent Oracle co-star.
      5. For some reason Joe Pantoliano caught my eye while looking at the list….I like him as an actor, he needs an UMR page….but boy was his autobiography a dull read.
      6. 32 Oscar winning co-stars is a solid total…and even more impressive when one of those 32 is Sir Michael…lol.
      Good stuff!

  3. I have seen 4 of Marcia’s movies: Space Cowboys; Mystic River; Mona Lisa Smile; and Elsa and Fred. I was most impressed with her though as the wife of town bully Brian Dennehy in the 1991 TV movie In Broad daylight, popular in the video libraries of the early 1990s

Indeed her TV work has been almost as prolific as her big screen contribution and she has been in 9 stage productions including recently in 2017 Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth where she was the female lead failing actress Alexandra Del Lago aka Princess Kosmonopolis.

That part was famously done by Elizabeth Taylor in the 1989 made- for-TV movie and by Geraldine Page in the 1962 big screen movie co-starring Paul Newman as Alexandra’s preying gigolo Chance Wayne. Sometimes it seems that the only thespian who has been barred from doing a Williams play in one medium or another has been Sly Stallone.

Marcia’s versatile and notable TV work also includes her 2011 performance as the mother of Amanda Knox [aka Foxy Knoxy] the American girl who notoriously spent almost 4 years in an Italian jail for allegedly murdering a fellow student.

Marcia is credited by IMDB with 11 acting awards and 35 noms; has a current reported net worth of $16 million; and has in the pipeline 3 new projects: one completed and 2 filming simultaneously. This veteran actress of over 40 years performing whom I have found entertaining well-deserves her Cogerson page which is “Voted Up”

    1. Hey Bob.
      1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Marcia Gay Harden.
      2. Tally count: Dan sits at 35, I am at 28 and you at 4.
      3. I have not even heard of Broad Daylight…thanks for the recommendation.
      4. I agree 100% she has been very very busy with television as well.
      5. Thanks for the information on her awards and net worth.
      Good stuff as always.
