If you do a comment….please ignore the email address and website section.
Added Steve’s latest You Tube video to the page. Our thoughts on the video and Mark’s movies.
Good new video. I have seen 38 of the movies listed here. 39 overall. Favorites would include The Fighter (#4), Invincible (#9), Deep Water Horizo (#8), The Other Guys (#16) and The Big Hit (#28). His Transformer movies are horrible…thankfully he is done making those movies. I thought he was pretty good in Fear (#31)….an intense bad guy in that one. As for his number one movie….The Departed. I need to re-watch that one….especially since so many people love that one…..and I was “meh” on my first and only viewing. Voted up and shared.
Hi Bruce, your 38 beats my 31, Flora has seen 2 – Boogie Nights and The Perfect Storm.
The Departed is enjoyable, a great cast of actors, but it’s not among Scorsese’s greatest achievements in my opinion. But it’s well worth another look.
Yes it’s true I’m a fan of those ‘horrible’ Transformer films. You should hear how loud I put them thru my home theater system. [Bruce shakes head]
Thanks for the comment, vote and share, it is appreciated.
I have always tended to confuse Mark Wahlberg with Matt Damon. It may be that Mark and Matt have a similar ring to them, and names like Wahlberg, Damon and Cogerson are not the most common at times. Special people deserve special names of course– take for example a unique one like “Joel Damon or Joel Demon”
Anyway old habits die hard because when I looked at your video catalogue around tea-time yesterday and saw Mark was the last actor flagged up I thought “I’ve already commented on him.” I was again confusing Mark with Matt and was ready to go to bed when I realised my mistake. The confusion is also par for the course in a way because I have only ever seen one Walberg movie: The Basketball Diaries, of which DiCaprio was the main star.
Bruce’s book of 50 Greatest Stars totally ignores Mark as does WH’s 25’s Greatest Male Legends 1950-2010: not even an honorary mention, etc. However his diverse careers as an actor, rapper and model have generated him a net worth of a whopping $300 million, making him one of the very richest movie stars ever to exist on this planet; and IMDB credits him with 21 acting awards and 72 nominations. His appearance in 2001’s Planet of the Apes may well have made him a fave of yours!
Also, what Mark has missed out on in Cogerson love elsewhere he makes up for to a degree with good box office figures on this page in the stats table above. 15 of his movies crossed the Cogerson magical $100 million prestige line for adjusted US grosses and his Top 25 global hits grossed worldwide a total of 6.6 billion in adjusted dollars, a respectable average of $265 per movie.

PLUS: All posters and stills for The Transformer films are also among my favourites – riveting stuff! There is in fact lots of magical art-work in this video for my money, and my scores add up to a 98.5% rating. You and Bruce agree on 4 of Mark’s Top 6 best reviewed movies. Among your top 6 he least agrees with you on Lone Survivor, which you have at No 5 and he at No 13. I am not going to attempt to break the tie having said in Part One that I have seen only Basketball Diaries among Mark’s flicks, but as always your presentations ideally complement each other and from 2 sets of ratings we can benefit from a spread to some extent of opinions about the movies reviewed.
Hi Bob, thanks for reviewing my Mark Wahlberg video. I very much appreciate the generous rating, info, stats, trivia and comparison.
Glad you enjoyed the picture gallery.
Ex-rapper and ex-model Mark Wahlberg aka Marky Mark surprised everyone when the Oscar nominations were announced 12 years ago and he was the only actor nominated for Martin Scorsese’s The Departed, a film which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Jack Nicholson.
On my movie forum I used to refer to Wahlberg as ‘the frowner’, which would tick off some of his female fans, but I’m not exaggerating he does look like he frowns a lot, even on the posters.
Two films scored 10 out of 10 from my sources – Boogie Nights and The Fighter. One scored 9 – The Departed. Six more scored 8 out of 10.
Wahlberg on David Beckham – “I’m not telling Beckham to take his family home. I’m just not sure why he came to America in the first place. Man, we don’t want your soccer. There’s no way Americans are going to buy the idea of 90 minutes of running around without much happening. Thanks for trying guys, but we’ll stick to baseball and basketball.”
Wahlberg on The Departed – “Marty and I were constantly in this struggle. I had problems with Marty. He was “I’m Martin Scorsese… da-dee-da.” He was pushing me in different ways. But it wasn’t just Marty. The whole time I was in the character so I was mad at everybody. It was Leo, Matt and Jack. F**k Jack too. We were able to laugh about it afterwards and we have a great relationship now and we’re going to do other stuff in the future.”
HI STEVE
Thanks for feedback.
Some very interesting trivia from you via a number of quotes. I appreciate you sharing it
I agree with Steve…good stuff Bob. Thanks for sharing this information.
Hey Steve…I can imagine you cranking up the volume on the Transformer movies….I do give Michael Bay credit….he knows how to make quality movies when looking at aspects behind the movie….if only he could have stories that match those qualities. Good stuff.

Okay testing . Top list for Mr. Wahlberg is every co-star currently on the Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list. Mark is currently #295 and was not on the list in 2000. @nd list is people he has appeared with who have fallen off the original list followed by 26 Oscar winners he has worked with. Sorry for this but it didn’t stay after 3 attempts to post (though a shorter comment went up). Also have switched carriers from Verizon to Time Warner and am having problems with TW.
Hey Dan…you are correct….that is a long list for sure.
Hey Dan….very cool so Wahlberg is at 295th….I am thinking based on how popular he is….and how many movies he is generating…that he will be steadily moving up the rankings.
Current list: Wow Entourage is loaded with people….too bad the movie was so bad. Rance Howard is 24th? Not sure I realized that….but I actually like that…..a few years ago…I was adding up the combined credits of Ron, Clint and Rance…and I was shocked that Rance easily outdistanced the two sons. Mojave? Never heard of that one…and yet I see it earned some money at the box office….so based on my rules…I need to add that one to the page….thanks for the additional work….lol. I see the Departed is also loaded.
Oscar list: 26 Oscar winners is pretty good….though his career is probably at the halfway mark. I recently read that when he first got the script for Deepwater Horizon….they said they wanted to do a young guy old guy story…..Wahlberg….said…great I will contact some of the older actors I know….like Nicholson and Freeman…..and they said….no..”We were thinking you could play the old guy part”. That had to make Wahlberg think…lol.
Glad it looks like your internet changeover worked….thanks of the comment….and information.
Only 71 million dollars for Deep Water Horizon???? That seems low; I saw the movie in a packed house on Sunday and everybody loved it. Fear is awesome. Marky Mark was truly scary in that one.
Hey Vance….unless it has great “legs”….$71 million might be a reach. I also enjoyed it….but my theater was only about half full. I agree that Fear is pretty good….he has not played the bad guy much…but he was very believable in that role. Thanks for the visit and the comment.
