“Are you freaking kidding me?” “ARE YOUR FREAKING KIDDING ME?” Taxi Driver not in Martin’s Top 5? Barely in his Top 10, that my friend does not make any sense. This does not make Travis very happy at all. Although I do not agree with the rankings this article is full of great information.
Sorry that your favorite Scorsese film was only rated 9th….the big reason was that Scorsese did not receive a Golden Globe or Oscar nomination for Best Director for Taxi Driver. 7 of the movies ahead of Taxi Driver got Scorsese it least an Oscar nomination for Best Director.
Taxi Driver is a classic….so I can see your frustration with the rankings….but I do appreciate the comment.
Interesting and fun page to read. That being said I see a couple of mistakes in your tables. After Hours does not star Robert DeNiro. The star is Griffin Dunne. Also DeNiro and Scorsese have only made 8 movies together. I think that goes back to the After Hours mistake.
As for your rankings, they look solid. Although I have never liked The Aviator the stats you included are pretty impressive. 11 nominations, 5 wins I had no idea.
Hey Kevin T. Thanks for the catch on After Hours. You were 100% correct…I copied and pasted one too many times when it came to Robert DeNiro….I feel bad for not mentioning Griffin Dunne….he makes After Hours a great movie.
As for Aviator….it has great stats….but it is not my favorite either….if the rankings were strictly my personal preferences Good Fellas would be sitting at the top…The Aviator would make my my Top 10…but just barely.
Once again thanks for catching my mistake.
Hey, another interesting web site. Such interesting personal facts as well. I have enjoyed his movies. Congratulations on another job well done. THANK YOU.
Hey BERN…thanks for checking out my latest page. I greatly appreciate you leaving a comment as well. Look for Tyrone Power soon!
Now this is more like it, Scorsese one of the greats. The Departed no.1? hmmm good film but I would have preferred to see Goodfellas up there, Departed won Best Picture and was more successful which gives it the edge. Taxi Driver is my personal favorite Scorsese film.
I’ve seen 16 of the 24 films you’ve listed, I still haven’t seen Alice, Last Temptation or Kundun.
His films have received 20 Oscars and 81 nominations? Wow!
Top marks Bruce, voted up and useful. 😉
Hey Steve. The Departed winning Oscars and for Best Director give it the edge over some of his better films in my opinion. Good Fellas is 3rd overall but tops on the Top Opinion charts. You are not missing much with the three you have not seen. Kundun was very forgettable. Thanks for stopping by.
Very interesting page! I’ve seen a few of these movies. I didn’t know he directed a lot of them! I loved Wolf of Wall Street.
Hey Katelyn….thanks for the visit and the comment. I am looking forward to Wolf of Wall Street as well.
