Martin Sheen Movies

sheen-1st-photoWant to know the best Martin Sheen movies?  How about the worst Martin Sheen movies?  Curious about Martin Sheen’s box office grosses or which Martin Sheen movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Martin Sheen movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which got the worst? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

A few years ago Sunshine625 requested a movie page that ranked all of the Sheen family’s movies.  So I put them all on one huge movie page.  It turned out well but it was probably a little too long….and the Google search gods never liked the page….so the views were pretty bad.  Well now that we are moving to a new website….I figured I give each Sheen/Estevez their very own page.  Their new individual links….Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen.

Martin Sheen (1940-) was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez in 1940.  His acting career is now almost 60 years long.  His IMDb page shows over 250 acting credits since 1956. This page will rank  Martin Sheen movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Martin Sheen movies by co-stars of his movies.
  • Sort Martin Sheen movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Martin Sheen movies by domestic yearly box office rank
  • Sort Martin Sheen movies how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Martin Sheen movie received.
  • Sort Martin Sheen movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

  1. I am searching for a movie that starred Martin Sheen where a nuclear diaster occurred and he was trying to make his way back to his family. It was an excellent film and so riveting. I cannot remember the name (it may have been a one name title ) and want to see it again. Time frame may have been in the early 80’s. Hope you can help me. Thank you.

    1. Hey Mary. Well…I have not been able to figure out the movie you are asking about. I went through his IMDb filmography….and there are a few possibilities…but none seem like “winners” to your question. Maybe Flora who is a huge Sheen fan can help.

  2. Great this page has been updated.

Regarding Martin Sheen working with his children – he did several episodes of The West Wing with his daughter, Rene.

  3. Hi, Bruce.

Now that I am going through the site index for names I noticed a while back that Martin had a separate page now. I am a big fan of Martin Sheen. I wrote a six page doubled sided letter to him last year and he answered me. There are a lot of reasons too many to go through here but he is an important role model for me throughout his life and career. As such, I have tried to see as many of his movies and tv films etc. as possible even when they may not be subjects easy for me to watch.

Your page on FFC made me decide to write about Sheen today.

The highest ranked movie I have seen is Apocalypse Now at number 1. I saw the Redux version in the theatre and the original version by DVD.

The highest ranked movie I have not seen is on my to-see list-The Departed at number 2.

The lowest ranked movie I have seen is Cadence at 31.

    Viewings By Rankings:
I have seen 7 of the Top 10.
I have seen 13 of the top 20.
I have seen 19 movies overall.

I recently saw Stella Days directed by Emilio which was made in Ireland. I enjoyed it throuroughly.

I still consider watching Ghandi and Catch-22. …….

My favourite 5 Martin Sheen films are:

    Badlands
    The American President
    Wall Street
    Catch Me if You Can
    The Cassandra Crossing

    Cheers,

    Flora

    1. Hey Flora.
      1. Thanks for your Martin Sheen thoughts.
      2. When I was moving this page to this website…..the 2 Sheens and 1 Estevez got their very own pages versus the one massive page that was out there before. This has been very good for Charlie….as his page has become a Top 10 view getter on the website….pretty good for Emilio….as he is in 25th place (out of over 300 pages)….the only person it has not helped is Papa Martin……as his page has not taken off yet.
      3. That is awesome that he responded back to you….very impressive.
      4. Martin Sheen makes a great role model. You have chosen well.
      5. Loophole at #37 is a great movie….with a great Sheen performance……highly recommend you checking that one out….you will not be disappointed.
      6. Tally count…..granted Steve’s total is from years ago….Bruce 23 (up 2 since my Steve comment) Flora 19 and Steve 15.
      7. I did not realize Emilio directed Stella Days… I will have to check that one out.
      8. So you got 70% of the Top 10 and 65% of the Top 20….the first non seen movie for me is The Subject Was Roses….that is very high on my list of movies to watch…..as it is one of the few major Oscar winning movies that I have not seen…..(Jack Albertson…Best Supporting Actor)
      9. Gandhi is very long…and Martin only has a few scenes….but it is worth checking out.
      10. I have seen 4 of 5 when it comes to your Top 5….I have not seen The Cassandra Crossing…The American President is one of my wife’s favorite all-time movies….so it seems that it is seen in our hour every few months.
As always….thanks for stopping by and talking movies.

  4. What an acting family! They sure have made a lot of movies when they are all put together. I’m not a Charlie Sheen fan, but I love Martin and Emilio. They are two fine actors. Thanks for another informative, fact finding, and informative movie page.!

    1. Hey suzettenaples….thanks for the comment and the compliment. I can understand why Charlie is not a favorite…but I am glad you like Martin and Emilio. I still can not figure out why Emilio pretty much stopped making movies…..maybe he will go back to acting one day

  5. I really enjoyed reading about the Sheen family. Charlie Sheen is one of my favorite actors. I miss him on ‘ Two and a half men.’ I continue to watch the reruns. Martin is a great actor too. I haven’t followed Emilio’s work that much. Thank you, Great movie page..

    1. Thanks for the visit always exploring(I like your name a lot). I am glad you enjoyed reading my hub on the Sheen family. I agree with you 100% about Charlie and Two and Half Men. Back in the day Emilio was the bigger star of the two brothers….not really sure why he stopped acting in movies….but he is missed on the big screen.
