  1. Ferris Bueller was my first “grown up” movie I saw on the big screen. I was at the movies for another film – I think it was The Land Before Time with two boys while our mothers were upstairs watching Ferris Bueller. Our movie ended much earlier than Ferris. Mom and Judy took us upstairs to watch Farris. I eventually saw the film in its entirety on VHS.

I have seen 3 Matthew Broderick movies. There are no favourites. In order of preference:

    Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
    Biloxi Blues
    The Stepford Wives

    1. Hey Flora…very cool that Matthew Broderick was the star of your first “grown up” movie on the big screen. I actually did not watch that one in theaters…which was very very unusual, because I was a huge John Hughes fan. A double feature of The Land Before Time and Ferris Bueller. Great movie memory. I have seen 28 of these movies. That includes all three of the ones you have seen. I saw Biloxi Blues in theaters…I enjoyed that one. That was pretty much Neil Simon’s last movie success. I also say The Stepford Wives….it was ok at best. A good cast pretty much wasted….Close, Walken, Kidman, Broderick. Good stuff.

  2. Matthew Broderick was never a leading box office star. In the only 8 Cogerson 100 million barrier crashers in the above tables he could be said to have APPEARED in only 4 where he was the out and out star in a full-length lead role: Godzilla, Ferris Buller, War Games and Insp Gadget.

In Lion King and Bee Movie his is an ensemble voice role; he plays 2nd fiddle to Carrey in Cable Guy; and in Trainwreck he has a cameo as himself is 22nd on the cast list and Mojo gives him no credit for it whatsoever. Indeed it puzzles me that The Numbers classifies his Godzilla Top-billed role as a supporting one but maybe they regard the monster as the star!

However I will always welcome with a “Vote Up!” a new page on a guy who idolised The Great Mumbler. IMDB credits Matthew with 3 acting awards and 15 noms and he has a reported net worth of $45 million.

    1. Hey Bob…thanks for checking out our Matthew Broderick page. Good breakdown of his $100 million dollar movies. As for Godzilla…..well…the movie was named for him…..it was not called Matthew….so I can see him getting a supporting credit. Though that was his time to shine in a big action role…..not thinking he ever got that chance again. He has some pretty entertaining stories about working with Marlon Brando. I made sure to finally include a trailer for that Brando movie. $45 million net worth is pretty stout. His dad was an actor as well…he played the dad on Family. That was an American television show. Good feedback as always.

  3. Matthew Broderick is one of the great “why” people who are stars like Wayne Newton or Rip Taylor. He always looks like a boy except now he has gray hair. I’ve seen him twice on stage. In “It’s Only a Play” where he showed he had a great memory remembering great long passages while presenting them with the emotion of a fish. This epic had Nathan Lane in it and the other show I saw him in also starred Nathan Lane which was a revival of “The Odd Couple”. This had Matthew playing Felix Unger and being annoying most of the time. Nathan has more talent in his pinkie then Matt. There are actually 2 Matthew Broderick pictures I give 4 stars to, Wargames and Glory.

Matthew is also married to Sarah Jessica Parker, enough said. Do you know that at the multiplex near where I live, the biggest crowds I have seen were not for any Marvel film or Star Wars pic but for Sex in the City which had lines going across the mall. Sarah’s puss was on every poster in New York City at the time, no one else on that show seemed to exist. One of their cast, Cynthia Nixon actually ran for governor of New York (another why). Matt and Sarah deserve each other, but I digress.

Matt is # 893 on the December 15, 2018 Oracle of Bacon Top 1000 Center of the Hollywood Universe list; these are the other actors on the list he appeared with.

He should be ashamed of being in Strangers with Candy but at least he can say he didn’t embarrass himself like Stephen Colbert,

    1. DAN

The normal fantastic and informative stuff that I now take for granted from you but you might wish to slightly amend the 4th line of para 2.

I know what you meant but initially, before I had time to reflect, the word took me aback a little. You don’t want Donald Trump to accuse you of ripping off his prose, I presume!

    2. Hey Dan. Lots of nuggets of information in the first part of your comment. Sounds like you have not enjoyed your Broderick Broadway experiences. I have not seen him on stage…..but he seems to really like doing that. Probably the most I have noticed a movie star has done that in my lifetime. I did not enjoy his The Producers at all. Then again….not saying I really liked the original either.

Not surprised he is on the Oracle list. Seems he has been a very busy actor for the last 40 years. That is a pretty decent amount of Oscar co-stars. I suspect that number will continue to rise. I have not seen Strangers With Candy…but the trailer looks weak….I might have to see it as Chris Pratt’s stock continues to rise in my mind. Good feedback. Thanks for putting this list together….it is appreciated.

    1. Hey Taylor…I would say Ferris Bueller, Glory, Biloxi Blues, War Games and The Lion King would be my Top 5 Matthew Brodrick Movies. Good stuff.

    1. Hey In The Shadows….I like the final ending credit scene in Ferris Bueller….you still hear the teacher saying Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? Thanks for stopping by.
