Matthew McConaughey Movies

Want to know the best Matthew McConaughey movies?  How about the worst Matthew McConaughey movies?  Curious about Matthew McConaughey’s box office grosses or which Matthew McConaughey movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Matthew McConaughey movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place …. because we have all of that information.

As I was working on my latest page, Best Movies of 1946 and I got into a conversation about my latest page subject with one of my children (my 21 year old daughter). When I told her my latest subject, I could tell she had no interest what so ever in movies made 48 years before she was born. So figuring she has to represent a decent percentage of my readers, I figured I would publish a current page to go with my 1946 page. So I grabbed my handy dandy movie notebook and checked out some of my requests over the last 9 months. So the winner from the requests was Mr. Matthew McConaughey.

Matthew McConaughey (1969-) is an American actor who began his acting career in 1991. After appearing in supporting roles in movies like 1993’s Dazed and Confused, 1994’s Angels in the Outfield and 1996’s Lone Star, he got his first big break by getting the lead role in 1996’s A Time To Kill. Since the success of A Time To Kill, McConaughey has become one of the more recognizable leading men working in movies today. He has appeared in romantic comedies, action films, Oscar® winning dramas and even some horror films.   Our personal Top 3 McConaughey movies are Reign of Fire (2002), We Are Marshall (2006) and Interstellar (2014).

  1. Well, another good page. I really liked the movie A Time To Kill. It was a good story and good acting from all the actors. It was recently on TV and I watched it again. I have seen many of his movies – waited for U571 and was somewhat disappointed in it. THANKS FOR THE HUB COGERSON.

    1. Thanks for checking out my latest page BERN1960…..A Time To Kill is a classic and it seems to get better every year….sorry you did not like U-571….I thought it was pretty good…but do not worry will not make you watch it the next time you come over…thanks for the comments.

  2. Wow, I’ve seen more of M.M.’s films than I thought. My fave is probably “A Time To Kill,” that is simply a great film all around.

He’s done some turkeys though. I hear McConaughey doesn’t even like to talk about the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” flick he was in. Haha.

    1. Hey Steve thanks for checking out my McConaughey hub….I have spelled his last name so many times today that I think I have finally learned how to spell it correctly without double checking. If I had to guess I would have guessed that Contact would have been your favorite…surprised that you have not seen Dazed and Confused as I think it was your girl, Milla’s first movie.

I like Reign of Fire as well…it makes no sense but watching Bale, McConaughey and Gerard Butler running around killing dragons has some good moments. U-571 is a great Blu-Ray…the scenes have great background detail…I use some of the scenes from that movie to show off our entertainment system. Amistad is one of the few Spielberg movies I have not watched….thanks for the comments.

  3. Not one of my favourites but I did like some of his films.

A Time to Kill, Contact, Tropic Thunder, U-571, Amistad, Sahara and Reign of Fire I’ve bought on DVD.

If I had to pick one film from that lot it would be Contact, a very good SF film with an excellent performance by Jodie Foster.

Overall I’ve seen 9 of the films you’ve listed, have to admit I’ve never seen Dazed and Confused.

  4. Happy 42nd Birthday Matthew 11/4/14 … What an honor for cogerson to create a movie page for you on your special day! I hope you appreciate it, I know I do! I’ve admired you BUT also your acting abilities for a few years now. You are multi-talented and whether you are playing a football coach, a stud in a chick flick or a legal eagle you manage to rock your role! You are a lucky dude being able to star in movies along with Hollywood hotties Sandra Bullock, Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker OR maybe they were the lucky dudettes! Either way I’ve seen most of your movies but I gotta tell you Lincoln Lawyer, Failure To Launch and A Time To Kill are my favorites. I would have also said Sahara but i’m not a fan of Penelope Cruz, I was glad when you broke up…not to be mean but I knew you could do so much better! Looking forward to your next marvelous movie. I do have one complaint though….I have a few friends who complained that in Lincoln Lawyer you never removed your shirt, they (ok, we) would appreciate more skin next time around. Thanks for the memories Matthew! Cya soon!

    1. Hey Sunshine625…wow is it really his birthday today? I had no idea…but that is pretty cool. You have written a nice letter to Mr. McConaughey…maybe he will get depressed about his birthday and check out the internet to see if there is anything new about him…and he will find my hub and your letter…lol. I am looking forward to when I get the chance to watch The Lincoln Lawyer….as I like when Marisa Tomei takes her shirt off….I am not concerned when and if he takes his shirt off though….thanks for leaving such a nice comment….I am glad you liked this pulse page.

  5. Films I’ve seen of Mathew’s career mostly fall into the category of I was with a group of people. However, I saw Dazed and Confused after becoming a fan of CSI:Miami and Rory Cochrane (of course he was killed off the show which has become weird-I only watch the original CSI now.) Cochrane had a big role in the film. I think that is the only film I actually did seek out

Other films I’ve seen in alphabetical order:

    Amistad

How To lose A Guy in 10 days..a rather mean-spirited thought behind this film although I enjoyed them singing the Carly Simon while Newman- NOT the composer-played for them.

    That’s it.

    He is pretty, though.

    1. Hey Flora…thanks for checking out one of my modern day hubs…I actually just saw Dazed and Confused about a week ago….I have not even gone and checked out IMDB yet to see where and if any of these young actors went anywhere….besides the big name actors in the movie. Even if you have only seen three of his movies…that still represents 11% of his movies that you have seen. Your opinion that he is pretty is shared by my wife as well. Thanks as always for your comments.
