As I was working on my latest page, Best Movies of 1946 and I got into a conversation about my latest page subject with one of my children (my 21 year old daughter). When I told her my latest subject, I could tell she had no interest what so ever in movies made 48 years before she was born. So figuring she has to represent a decent percentage of my readers, I figured I would publish a current page to go with my 1946 page. So I grabbed my handy dandy movie notebook and checked out some of my requests over the last 9 months. So the winner from the requests was Mr. Matthew McConaughey.

  1. Hi Cogerson; I really don’t have much to say about Matthew McConaughey because I’m not really a big fan of any of his films. He never really registered with me in anything I’ve seen him in. I’ve got nothing againt him but I can take him or leave him. I’m neutral on this guy.

    1. Hey Rob…well I appreciate you taking the time to check out a page on an actor you are not much of a fan of their work. I think I am pretty neutral on him as well…thanks for the comments.

  2. O’hara was in Jamaica Inn in 1939 opposite Charles Laughton -the same year they were in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. J.I. was her third film.

  3. Yes, I did know that Olivia and Joan were still with us. I also know that they haven’t always gotten along. Talking about my mention of Gable in an earlier comment, Olivia has outlived the actress who played Bonnie, Rhett and Scarlet’s daughter. O’Hara is also still alive.

    I’m familiar with all of these actresses. Two of them worked with Hitchcock (O’Hara and Fontaine).

    1. Hey Flora thanks for the information….I just checked out her IMDB stats….she actually did not make that many movies especially when you consider how long Maureen O’ Hara’s career was…but some of the movies are classics like Miracle on 34th Street and The Quiet Man. Interesting that Hitchcock noticed her very early in her career.

  4. hmmm. Looking at your list of your 15 top pages, there are only two I haven’t commented on-Katherine Hepburn: not sure why I haven’t yet. I prefer her dramas to her comedies;

    and Christian Bale (pretty sure I haven’t seen any of his.) I think I’m running out of your classic actor/director back pages.

    1. Hey Flora….they are now in the ever growing request list…so they will be coming to a movie page near you soon….I really need to research Maureen O’Hara’s career, I have no idea which Hitchcock movie she was in….I know she made a ton of movies with John Wayne and she was funny in John Candy movie….lots more to learn…lol. My mom and mother-in-law mentioned that the two sisters do not even speak….that is just sad…thanks for the comments.
