Drivel part of the page: So right before we went on vacation we published a Greer Garson movie page. During that vacation we did some serious research on Garson’s frequent co-star Walter Pidgeon. Walter Pidgeon will be our next classic page…..but we needed a current star for our next subject. So while reading a review for the new Ghostbuster movie…..we realized that Melissa McCarthy would be a good choice for a UMR page…..so that is how Melissa McCarthy was picked as the lastest UMR movie star subject.

Didn’t know McCarthy was in Charlie’s Angels back in 2000, it’s been a while since I saw that, which one of the angels was she Bruce? Maybe they should reboot Charlie’s Angels with the ladies from Ghostbusters? Oh come on it might appeal to someone out there.
I’ve seen just 5 of the 21 films you’ve listed here. The only one I liked was Spy, I remember laughing like a hyena when I first watched it, bought the blu-ray.
I haven’t seen The Heat or The Boss. They should have renamed Ghostbusters “Lady Ghostbusters” just to separate it from the classic original. I’ll watch it on TV later in the year.
Good work Bruce. Voted Up!
1 If everyone had liked John Wayne Gary Cooper would have been out of business.
2 With that caveat I would like to register that I found Mike and Molly a huge bore in that it was a ‘one trick pony’ that seemed to be build around endlessly repetitive jokes and situations regarding obesity and eating.
BOB
Hey Bob…..so far I have not enjoyed many of her movies….and have seen not a single episode of any of her shows…..that being said….she is becoming one of the most popular stars working today. Thanks for the input. 🙂
Hey Steve……there are many of her movies made before she was famous that I do not remember her part…with Charlie’s Angels being one of those movies. I think she is going to be in the all female Expendables movies and the all female version of the Magnificent Seven…lol.
Tally count….me 16, Larry 11, you 5 and Flora 2…..not many people played this time…sniff sniff.
Don’t watch Tammy …..that was brutal….Debbie and I did not like The Heat at all …..which is amazing because Debbie really likes Bullock. Ghostbusters will be at my RedBox by the end of October…..I will check it out then.
As always….thanks for checking out our latest and greatest page.
I’ve seen 11 of them. I enjoyed Spy.
Great!
I have seen 2 so I suck at the Viewing Olympics here. LOL
Bruce has seen 16, so…
Currently:
Bruce: Gold ( USA)
LawrenceA: Silver (USA)
(not likely I’ll get bronze for Canada)
Hey Flora…yep Steve knocked you off the podium….that was not very nice of him…lol.
Hey Larry…..current tally count….me 16, you 11 and Flora 2….thinking when Steve checks in that 2 will not be medal worthy…..lol. I enjoyed Spy as well. One of the few lead roles that I have enjoyed her in…..Jason Statham was very funny in that one…..and I did not see that coming. Thanks for the comment and count.
I love her though I admit at times she appears to be playing the same character. Loved Spy, St. Vincents and at times Identity Thief. Looking forward to her Ghostbusters movie I think I am seeing on Sunday.
Hey Helakoski…..I enjoyed Spy and St. Vincent too. I can not say the same thing for Identity Thief……and I am a huge Jason Bateman fan….so I wanted to like that movie but it was a hard one to finish. I can say the same thing for Tammy (just brutal to watch) and The Heat (not looking forward to a sequel at all). Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Another actress! Great.
Like your Mom, I am most familiar with Melissa’s TV show which just ended:
Mike and Molly.
It was one of my favourite current shows until it ended. Great ending episode.
As for her films, I have seen in preference:
White Oleander
Charlie’s Angels
Hey Flora….I am sitting at 16 McCarthy movies watched….so current tally count would be me 16 and you 2. I have actually not seen her in a single tv episode for either of her two big shows. I have not seen one of the two you have watched….but White Oleander looks like it could be a good Beto watch. As always….thanks for sharing your movie knowledge.
Welcome back. I have seen her on tv but have not seen any of these movies. But it was still a fun page to read. Thank you for an entertaining page.
Hey Bern1960…..yep…good to be back. Thanks for checking our latest page….especially since she is not someone you watch a whole lot. Thanks for the kind words.
