  1. Congrats! You’ve certainly done a lot of work on this movie page. As for Streep, I’ve never seen her in a bad movie, though a few of them could be considered mediocre. What a great star she is – in the ilk of Katherine Hepburn and Jane Fonda. Later!

  2. Great Movie Page! She is a great actress who has played many great roles! Keep up the good work!

    1. Hey petertebin….she has grown on me in the last few years as I used to not be a fan of her work….but over the last 10 years I have enjoyed her movies more….Julia and Julia is the best example…no way I wanted to see that movie….but when my wife made me…I had to agree that the movie was pretty good and she was excellent in the role. The same goes for her latest movie, Hope Springs….high on my wife’s list…..and I am pretending to not be interested…oh the ways of marriage…lol.

  3. Meryl Streep is my pick as the greatest American actress. She can and has played just about all kinds of characters. I saw Kramer v. Kramer when it came out and I saw Hope Springs last week. Streep nailed her role as usual. There were a few laughs, mostly at the expense of Streep’s husband played by Tommie Lee Jones who has lost interest in sex in middle age. (Streep hadn’t lost her interest.) Steve Carrel played the marriage counselor. It was a serious movie, not a comedy. A bit painful to watch

    1. Hey Ralph Deeds. It is hard to argue against your pick of Streep as the greatest American actress. Her stats are incredible….17 Oscar nominations 3 Oscar wins…and quality movie after quality movie. Kramer and Kramer put her on the map….I first noticed her in The Deer Hunter…..she has been a force in movies now for almost 35 years….and it does not look like the end is in sight.

Thanks for the mini-review of Hope Springs….I think her and Tommy Lee Jones look like an outstanding screen couple….they are marketing it as a comedy….I wonder how many people will be prepared for a serious movie that is “a bit painful to watch”. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

      1. Did you see the April Fools article stating that Streep had edged out Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman to play Martin Luther King in a new movie?! Some people probably believed it.

  4. Hi Cogerson, and awesome movie page!

I’m going to tell you the same thing I told my friend ishwaryaa33: my favorite Streep movie is “She Devil”

    Take care -voted up

    John

    1. Hey John Sarkis….thanks for the comment, the visit and the compliment…they are all greatly appreciated. She-Devil is an interesting movie…but I agree with you I like her in the movie as well….FYI Roger Ebert agrees with us too. I think She-Devil is the first time she tried comedy and being the great actress that she is….she handled it very well…..my only complaint about the movie? too much Barr not enough Streep.

  5. The academy always seems to hold Ms Streep to higher standards than other actors. She has lost out to other actresses many times when she in fact turned in the best performance.
