Michael Keaton (1951-) is an American Oscar nominated actor who has appeared in many box office hits over the last three decades. Keaton appeared in numerous television shows before getting his big break in Ron Howard’s 1982 Nightshift. After the success of Nightshift, Keaton appeared in numerous comedies like Mr. Mom, Gung Ho and his first blockbuster hit Beetlejuice.
After the success of Beetlejuice, Keaton moved to the world of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Batman would be his biggest hit of his career and Keaton would appear in the 1992 Batman sequel, Batman Returns, before giving up the Batman role to Val Kilmer. Michael Keaton’s post Batman career has not been as successful. Recently he has appeared in more supporting roles and has had great success providing his voice in the Pixar blockbusters….Cars and Toy Story 3.
His IMDb page shows over 80 acting credits since 1975. This page will rank Michael Keaton movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

cool page i love Keaton in Beetlejuice and Batman! I didn’t know he was born Michael Douglas. I like how organized the page is
Hey BDW316….thanks for the compliment…I am glad you like the setup of my hub….lots of trial and error to get a format that provides the most information in the smallest amount of space. I think Beetlejuice and Batman are some of my favorites as well…with Night Shift and Mr. Mom.
When it was first announced that Keaton was going to play Batman, I remember my reaction was a disbelieving “WHAT? Johnny Dangerously is gonna play BATMAN?? Are they CRAZY?” …then I saw the movie and was impressed at how well he pulled it off. The man is more versatile than I gave him credit for at first. Before “Batman” he was known mainly for comedic roles but after that he moved on to dramatic parts as well.
…and yet he still takes time to do the occasionally goofy part like the voice of Chick Hicks in “Cars” (which I loved).
Hey FatFreddysCat….I remember how people went nuts when Burton picked Keaton….I did not mind at all…after growing up with Adam West’s Batman….I was looking for a different Bruce Wayne…and Burton and Keaton did that very well. Burton always said that Keaton had a dark side people were not aware of before the Batman movies came out. I liked Chick Hicks…but I liked Ken in Toy Story 3…he has another voice movie coming out next year called Noah: The Beginning…could be interesting as well…thanks for stopping by.
Keaton is,to me,one of the most talented actors to be under-utilized,I’m not so sure how critics view him over all,but Keaton’s work is better than Adam Sandler and other seemingly more high profile(with seeming more and better movie offers)comedians .;)
Hey Mentalist acer….I agree I do not think Keaton gets enough credit….and his time on the A list was pretty short….I am stunned that he is almost 60 ….when I think about Michael Keaton I keep thinking about the young guy in Night Shift….but that was almost 30 years ago. I would rather watch a Keaton movie over a Sandler movie anytime…thanks for stopping by.
HEY, AM I GOING TO BE FIRST ONCE AGAIN – HOW ABOUT THAT!!! I have enjoyed seeing Michael Keaton in Mr. Mom so many times and I thought he played a good BATMAN. I have not seen him lately but perhaps I just missed his movies. HAS HE MADE ANYTHING LATELY? Bryan, grandson, enjoy this HUB. Interesting that he was only married once and has a grown son…i BELIEVE THAT HE IS A GOOD ACTOR. GREAT MOVIE PAGE ONCE AGAIN COGERSON.
Hey Bern1960…congrats on being first…and I did not even have to send you an e-mail. I think he surprised lots of people with his performance in Batman and Batman Returns. I think he would have stayed to do Batman Forever if Tim Burton had remained the director. Recently things have slowed for Keaton…as he seems to be concentrating on voice over work….he has one project listed on IMDB that is not voice overs. Thanks for checking out my Keaton movie page.
I sure miss you!! My whole family misses you!!! What are you doing? All we know is you’re one of the best American actors ever and you have great taste in movies — or someone does. If we (the Hales) can do anything to get you on the big screen again soon with roaring crowds filling their seats, let me know.
Hey Deborah….well he is back in big budget movies in 2014….RoboCop, Need for Speed and up next is Birdman…I hope he can keep being in the spotlight
