Morgan Freeman Movies

Want to know the best Morgan Freeman movies?  How about the worst Morgan Freeman movies?  Curious about Morgan Freeman’s box office grosses or which Morgan Freeman movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Morgan Freeman movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which ones got the worst? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

Before doing this page, I would have told you the actor that I became first aware of as a kid ….. was John Wayne. Turns out the answer has to be Morgan Freeman. Freeman appeared on PBS’s The Electric Company from 1971 to 1977. I was in kindergarten in 1972, and The Electric Company was required viewing. I remember seeing Freeman in the trailer for 1980’s Brubaker, and telling my brother…”Hey its that guy from the Electric Company”….ok enough about me.

In 1987 Freeman played Fast Eddie, a very brutal pimp, in Smart Street. He received his first Oscar® and Golden Globe® nomination for that role, and his movie career has never looked back.  Since those early days, he has become one of the most respected actors working today.  His IMDb page shows over 130 acting credits since 1964. This page will rank Morgan Freeman movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.  This page was from a request by Sunshine.

  1. How did I miss this page? I love Morgan Freeman. Great actor, great voice. There’s an advert on tv here where someone does a very good impression of his voice, had me fooled. 🙂

Seven and Shawshank Redemption are two top favourites and two of the greatest films of the 90’s. Oh and Unforgiven too. That decade produced so many great films.

    1. Hey Steve….I included the explanation why Shawshank came in 12th….just for you….cause I could hear you saying 12th?…you are out of your mind….lol …I actually think the movie that got no respect was #23 Glory….Thanks for stopping by and reading and commenting…..

      1. Yep Shawshank wasn’t a hit at the cinema, the title and lack of big stars didn’t help, I gave it a miss at the cinema. But on video it started getting noticed and people were recommending it to their friends and it really snowballed into this hugely respected and loved movie. It’s been voted greatest film ever made on a few occasions and it’s still no.1 on IMDB’s Top 250. Not bad for a box office disappointment eh? 🙂

  2. I love Morgan Freeman – he’s great in any role, whether he’s being funny or serious or anything in between. He’s just got such presence…and that voice! Great page. 🙂

    1. SweetMarie83….I think he is like Gene Hackman in everything he does he brings quality with him…his voice is getting up there with James Earl Jones as one of the most famous voices in Hollywood…thanks for reading

  3. Emily…he does a great job of replacing George Burns as the movie God in my head…Bruce Almighty is pretty funny….Evan Almighty was just OK in my book….thanks for reading

  4. I know he’s been in lots of films but whenever I see him I think of him as God from Bruce Almighty! Morgan’s a good actor.
