Morgan Freeman Movies

Want to know the best Morgan Freeman movies?  How about the worst Morgan Freeman movies?  Curious about Morgan Freeman’s box office grosses or which Morgan Freeman movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Morgan Freeman movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences and which ones got the worst? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

Before doing this page, I would have told you the actor that I became first aware of as a kid ….. was John Wayne. Turns out the answer has to be Morgan Freeman. Freeman appeared on PBS’s The Electric Company from 1971 to 1977. I was in kindergarten in 1972, and The Electric Company was required viewing. I remember seeing Freeman in the trailer for 1980’s Brubaker, and telling my brother…”Hey its that guy from the Electric Company”….ok enough about me.

In 1987 Freeman played Fast Eddie, a very brutal pimp, in Smart Street. He received his first Oscar® and Golden Globe® nomination for that role, and his movie career has never looked back.  Since those early days, he has become one of the most respected actors working today.  His IMDb page shows over 130 acting credits since 1964. This page will rank Morgan Freeman movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.  This page was from a request by Sunshine.

  1. So far no one mentioned Lucky # Slevin, Freeman plays a bad man. I didn’t feel abit sorry for him or Ben Kingsly at the end.

Personaly I hated the movie Seven, The idea of killing people over their sins is dumb. It is why I don’t like the Saw movies. Also it was so depressing, especially when Paltrow told Morgan she was pregnant. He then asks her if they were going to keep the baby or abort it. They were married, Loved each other, he had a good job. Why would that question even come up. Was their world that scewed up?

Antway Morgan Freeman was like the wise friendly uncle everyone wants to have. In most of his films.

    1. I agree 100% with you on Lucky Number Slevin ruffridyer….it is very well done with a great story and a group of great actors in great roles…I never figured out why it died at the box office….my wife loves the movie except for the plastic bags over people’s heads….she closes her eyes and I fast forward the movie.

I have seen Se7en one time, well done movie but not a movie ever want to watch again….too sick and depressing….it does seem odd Freeman would ask about the abortion. Thanks for the comments.

  2. Good stuff! Morgan is one of my all time favorites. I watched Electric Company in the 60s and early 70s and that is where I first saw Morgan. No matter what tough guy he plays in a movie I always think of him as he was in the Electric Company

    1. We are in the same boat MysteryPlanet, I always think of Electric Company whenever I see one of his movies….thanks for reading and commenting

  3. Morgan Freeman is a great actor. Thanks for reminding me of the many roles I forgot he was in. As usual, this is such a well done page. Rated up and useful.

    1. Hey toknowinfo….Freeman has quietly put together a great career…..thank you for the compliment….

    1. BryRog57….yes Driving Miss Daisy is a very good movie….it won the Oscar for Best Picture, audiences loved it, and it made a ton of money…..what more can someone expect from a movie
