Nicolas Cage Movies

Want to know the best Nicolas Cage movies?  How about the worst Nicolas Cage movies?  Curious about Nicolas Cage’s box office grosses or which Nicolas Cage movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Nicolas Cage movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

When I first started writing movie pages, one of the first actors I picked (my oldest son’s suggestion) was Nicolas Cage.  Nicolas Cage (1964-) has been starring in movies for over thirty-five years.  During those years he has starred in many box office hits and has picked up two Best Actor Oscar® and four Golden Globe® nominations.  He won the Best Actor Oscar® for his role in Leaving Las Vegas (1995).  The last few years have seen most of his movies go straight to DVD…beginning to wonder if he will ever get back to his glory days.

His IMDb page shows over 100 acting credits since 1981. This page will rank Nicolas Cage movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts and cameos were not included in the rankings. His straight to home entertainment movies have a separate table that looks at 10 of his movies.

Nicolas Cage Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by co-stars of his movies
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)  *** If domestic & worldwide grosses are the same…then worldwide gross is unknown
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Nicolas Cage movie received.
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

  1. #1 has to be the Rock…..also I really liked the first one on National Treasure…..2nd one was ok….cool list thaks

  2. I missed this page last year, now its updated its an opportunity to check it out.

50 films? But he does churn them out, 4 or 5 films a year?

It looks like I’m a bit of a closet Cage fan, I’ve seen 39 of the 50 you’ve listed! eek.

Not a big Moonstruck fan, I’m more into his action roles, Face Off, Con-Air and The Rock are big faves, good to see them in the top 10. I saw them at the cinema too.

The last Nic Cage film I saw at the cinema was Kick-Ass which I loved and have watched many times on Blu-ray since. Bought the graphic novel too.

I’ve seen all ten of the box office chart and 8 from the critics chart, I have yet to see Birdy or Red Rock West.

Nic Cage is a very good actor when he wants to be, but he makes so many crappy films. Problem is I end up buying those crappy films while complaining about them. 🙂

I bought Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Drive Angry and Season of the Witch on blu-ray, he shamelessly admitted.

Another winning page Bruce, I hope it gets more views after this update.

    1. Hey Steve…I think for the first time we are tied…as I have seen 39 of his movies as well. I loved KickAss as well and it is also in my blu-ray collection. I have been able to resist buying Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Drive Angry and Season of the Witch…but I have seen them….I think Apprentice and Drive Angry are ok….but Season of the Witch is pretty bad. I would highly recommend Red Rock West as it is one of my favorite Cage movies. I have always wanted to see Birdy but never got around to it. I think Cage is going through a horrible time right now….everybody knows he has financial problems….so they assume the movie is going to be bad because they fell he had to make the movie for the money. I think he will bounce back…him and John Cusack have one coming out soon called On Frozen Ground….and it was filmed in Alaska where my oldest son lives….plus if things get real bad for him, he can always bring back Benjamin Gates for another National Treasure….thanks for the comments and the votes.

  3. To think if it wasn’t for Nic Cage Johnny Depp might not be the famous sensational actor that he is today! (See my Depp page if you are confused)

    1. Wow does this page need an update….it would be nice if he would have another quality movie open that would motivate me to do the facelift on one of my oldest movie pages.

I actually understand your point…as I remember your letter to Mr. Depp. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment.

  4. I understood THAT lynch movie, at least the basics. My son watches em and claims to know some of whats going on.

    1. I do not think even Lynch knows what is going on….Eraserhead is my best example of a movie that gives no clues what is going on.

  5. Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors, though I prefer his earlier work. Wild at Heart was one of the few David Lynch movies I understood. Cage and Dern were awesome.

Face-off was so much fun watching travolta channel cage and cage channel travolta.

I wondered how a taller man and a broader man could trade faces and their body types melded to it. Must be a science thing. I know it’s only a movie just shut up and enjoy it.

    1. Hey ruffridyer….I am impressed that you are able to understand a David Lynch movie….I have yet to find one of his movies that I can understand what is really going on…..I really liked Dafoe in Wild at Heart. Face-off is a guilty pleasure…..it is a great movie as long as you do think to hard about how logical it is….thanks for the comments.
