Nicolas Cage Movies

Want to know the best Nicolas Cage movies?  How about the worst Nicolas Cage movies?  Curious about Nicolas Cage’s box office grosses or which Nicolas Cage movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Nicolas Cage movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

When I first started writing movie pages, one of the first actors I picked (my oldest son’s suggestion) was Nicolas Cage.  Nicolas Cage (1964-) has been starring in movies for over thirty-five years.  During those years he has starred in many box office hits and has picked up two Best Actor Oscar® and four Golden Globe® nominations.  He won the Best Actor Oscar® for his role in Leaving Las Vegas (1995).  The last few years have seen most of his movies go straight to DVD…beginning to wonder if he will ever get back to his glory days.

His IMDb page shows over 100 acting credits since 1981. This page will rank Nicolas Cage movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts and cameos were not included in the rankings. His straight to home entertainment movies have a separate table that looks at 10 of his movies.

Nicolas Cage Movies Can Be Ranked 6 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by co-stars of his movies
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)  *** If domestic & worldwide grosses are the same…then worldwide gross is unknown
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Nicolas Cage movie received.
  • Sort Nicolas Cage movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

    1. Hey Cageman….I am impressed that you have seen all 50 of his movies….thanks for stopping by and for the comment.

  1. Pretty good list. I’m surprised to see “ghost rider” ranked as high as it did for the box office score card.

    1. Hey Stevennix2001…thanks for the visit….as for Ghost Rider…it was a pretty big hit for Cage….the sequel is not going to get close to the original’s box office total…as I think it is going to fade pretty quickly…..I think he is going to have make another National Treasure to help turn the tide of his career.

  2. I haven’t seen a large number of Cage’s films.

Moonstruck is the only box office hit I’ve seen.

As for critics picks, besides Moonstruck, I have seen Adaption and Matchstick Men.

The top ten movie score titles:

I have seen Moonstruck and Peggy Sue Got Married.

The other films I’ve not yet mentioned at all that I’ve seen are, in movie score order:

    It Could Happen to You

    Gaurding Tess

That is a grand total of 6 movies, although I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve seen Moonstruck and Peggy Sue Got Married.

Raising Arizona is top of my to-see list.

    1. Hey Flora…first of all thanks for checking out my hub on one of the current actors. Six is not a bad showing considering every movie he has appeared was well after your birthday. I would say a good one to add to list with Raising Arizona…would be Red Rock West….it is a little film that is gaining a cult status…and is a throwback to crime noir movies that you like so much.

I would not recommend any of his recent movies as they have all been at best ok….and at worst some of the worst movies he has ever made. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

        1. Hey Flora…I really think you will enjoy Red Rock West….here is the trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyTP99iyMEM ….ignore the music the movie is really good.

This update has been very successful….when I did the update yesterday I had 617 views….28 hours later it now has 1300 views…including over 700 in the last 24 hours…thank you ChimeIn which has brought in over 500 views.

  3. I am really hot and cold on Cage. Some of my favorites are Moonstruck, Adaptation, and World Trade Center.

    1. Hey thatmovieguy1971….hot and cold seems to be a common theme for Nicolas Cage….I think he is currently in an Ice Age….but I think he will break free again. Thanks for the visit.

  4. Cogerson…..While your pages are always a treat to read…for the first time, I’m gonna have to say, this actor is no treat for me. I may never know what it is about Cage that basically turns me away from his movies. Although I liked ConAir, it had more to do with the story than it did with him….and I loved Moonstruck because of Cher. Crazy maybe, but I like Cher’s acting abilities more than her music.

Any movies he’s done that I have seen, have not been because he was in them. I guess I’ve seen 7 or 8….that’s it.

    1. Hey fpherj48….sorry he is not your favorite actor….I think the fact that he has made so many bad movies hurts his overall appeal….as I am sure you are not the only person that Cage leaves feeling lukewarm at best. I wonder how many people like Cher’s acting over her singing? I appreciate you commenting on the page, especially since he is not one of your favorites.
