HI BRUCE
I enjoyed your return comments.Has W o C got “Bette Davis eyes” then?
HI TEACH
Coincidentally Flora has just brought up Glenn Ford and if Glenn’s “Teach” in Blackboard Jungle had shown up in class like that I doubt if the film would have been a big hit and Glenn’s career would have taken off into the upper reaches in the way that it did!
When I was in the Royal Air Force a fellow serviceman of mine was an avid fan of the TV series The Invisible Man and he confided to me one day”You know I’d love to be invisible!”. YOU have done the next best thing Bruce
Indeed some psychologists reckon that what attracts the likes of Olivier to acting where they can don costumes, false noses and large wigs etc is that they experience the thrill of being able to “hide in plain sight”
It’s great to see a bit of fun in the classroom which might show your pupils that everything in life doesn’t always have to be taken too seriously – there’s room for both work and play.
Over here we have -or at least used t have – Red Nose day where all sorts of people put on false red noses and collect for charity . I remember one of the organisers one year asking our top boss in the civil service to put on a red nose and join in the charitable activities. The boss refused to to do so as he said “I am a person who has serious responsibilities.”
My own thanks to you and W o C for sharing the photo with your viewers.
Hey Bob…glad you like our “couple” photo. Interesting tidbits on Glenn Ford, Laurence Olivier, your Royal Air Force days and Red Nose day. As for the night in the photo…WoC really enjoyed being in the mask…she liked that nobody could see her eyes…..I used to have to dress up in a dragon (the dragon was my company’s mascot) outfit for work (when some hired teenager did not so up)….it is fun not being seen…even if you are in plain sight. Good stuff.
