When we first started doing these pages, one of our first big box office discoveries, were the archived Variety Year in Review issues. For years we would use their yearly ranks as our yearly rankings when putting together these pages. Well as our database has gotten bigger and bigger our yearly box office lists started to surpass Variety’s list. On our newer pages we started using our UMR rankings over Variety’s yearly rankings.
Well tonight…WoC (Wife of Cogerson) coded a program that moved all 36,000 plus movies in our database and ranked them by yearly box office. It then sent out those results to the 700 UMR movie pages. What does that mean? Basically….it sent the Variety rankings home…and replaced them with our UMR rankings. So from now on….the rankings shown will be the ones from our database. They are listed by the IMDb year. For example…1939’s Gone With The Wind….is listed as a 1939 movie…even though it did very little box office in 1939. Thank you WoC…..you are awesome.
