  1. The great Ollie, another British great joins the UMR hall of fame.

I’ve seen 22 of the 50 films on the chart. Favorites include – Gladiator, The Three and Four Musketeers, The Curse of the Werewolf, Baron Muchausen, Burnt Offerings, Lion of the Desert and Oliver!

Gladiator tops the UMR chart but Lion of the Desert is no.1 on the critics chart.

“I don’t have a drink problem. But if that was the case and doctors told me I would have to stop, I’d like to think I would be brave enough to drink myself into the grave.”

[waves arms] Bruce, if you’re out there… you have Reed’s date of birth listed as 1999 in the trivia section.

    Good stuff, Vote Up!

    1. Back to back victories for the Lensman. Tally count: Steve 22, me 10 and Flora 6. So you think Ollie was not born in 1999? I will fix that error after I get through with this comment. As for his quote….I think he might have accomplished “drink myself to the grave” as he died in a bar after a long stay with lots of drinking. I had not noticed that Lion of the Desert was so highly rated. Many of my favorite Ollie movies are on your favorites list. Movies like Gladiator, the Musketeers and Baron M. Good stuff as always.

      1. Hey Steve….that error has been fixed. Since I am back in the comment box…let me talk about The Jokers for a minute. If you had asked before writing this page I would have said (a) not only have I not seen it but (b) I have not even heard of it before. However….when researching the page…I saw the poster for The Jokers….and it triggered my memory…..that I had in fact seen it before. That is the movie where two brothers (Reed and Michael Crawford) steal the crown jewels. I tried to find a trailer for the movie…..but failed…but I did find the entire movie sitting on YouTube. I am now trying to find the time to watch it again.

  2. Hey Dan
    1. Good lists…thanks for putting them together.
    2. Ollie has a nice spot on the Oracle list…not bad for a guy that has not made a movie in 20 years.
    3. Being a big Christian Bale fan, I like want to see Treasure Island as well….it is not an easy movie to locate.
    4. First list…most common Oracle co-star…Mr. Christopher Lee…..which you have as being in 6 movies with Reed…..but you have forgotten Wild For Kicks…….so disappointed….lol.
    5. 29 Oscar winners….decent but not an awesome total.
    As always good stuff.

      1. Hey Dan….got it….Treasure Island did not make the Oracle list because it was a television movie….I stand corrected. I should have known better than to question your record keeping skills…..lol.

  3. I have seen 6 Oliver Reed films, 3 of them in the top 5. There is also Women in Love which did not make your table.

The HIGHEST ranked movie I have seen is Oliver!

The highest ranked movie I have NOT seen is Gladiator.

The LOWEST ranked movie I have seen is The Sell-Out.

    Favourite Oliver Reed Movies:

    Oliver!
    The Three Musketeers
    The Four Musketeers

Other Oliver Reed Movies I Have Seen:

    Women in Love
    The Big Sleep
    The Sell-Out

    1. Hey Flora….thanks for the thoughts on Oliver Reed. I have seen 10 of the movies. Somehow I left off Women in Love….it is now on the page….and is part of your 6. I have seen all of your favorites…and 2 of your others. Not surprised the Sell-Out is on your list of Oliver Reed movies seen…..betting a certain Richard Widmark had something to do with that. Gladiator is a good movie, but not one I re-watch very often. Good stuff as always.

  4. Treasure Island (1990) is not on this list because it is a made for TV film and is not counted in Oracle of Bacon statistics (so Christian Bale doesn’t count as acting with him in a theatrical release). I’d like to see it though.

Oliver Reed is # 219 on the 202o Oracle of Bacon list. These are actors on the list he has appeared with.
