  1. I’ve seen 5 of the 17 films on the chart, more than I thought. One favorite – Hot Fuzz, I also enjoyed the Japanese anime The Secret World of Arietty.

The Favorite isn’t a favorite but it kept me watching and made me laugh. I might even watch it again at some future time, if I’m in the mood. It was better than the recent Mary Queen of Scots.

Mustache on the Orient Express is already fading from memory but I do remember liking the widescreen photography. Might be worth another look.

    Nice work Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve….thanks for the movie thoughts on Olivia Colman. I have seen 8 of her movies. I enjoyed Hot Fuzz…just not as much as Shawn of the Dead. Can’t remember if I saw The Secret World of Arietty…but I think I did…..but I did not include it in my tally count.I think The Favourite was a one and done movie for me. I liked Murder on the Orient Express…but I admit…I barely noticed the Colman role in that one. Thanks for the vote up and the visit.

    1. Hey Dan. Thanks for the trivia lists on Olivia Coleman. I guess the fact that we have an Olivia Colman page shows how much UMR is growing. Back in 2011, we were picking the biggest of the big stars…now almost a decade later….we are getting thespians that the general audiences only recognize their faces versus their names. Not surprised she is not on the Oracle list. First list….not many duplicate stars…and nobody with three movies. Second list is pretty small currently….but should grow as she becomes a bigger and bigger star. Good stuff as always.

  3. I have not seen The Crown, so before last year I did not know her at all. I was not impressed with The Favourite. I liked The Lobster and Hyde Park in Hudson, but I guess I did not notice her in the roles. An eye opening UMR review.

    1. Hey Taylor…I am right there with you on The Crown. I have heard of it, but I have never watched a single episode. I thought The Favourite was interesting…but not sure if I thought it was Oscar worthy. Thanks for the kind words on our Olivia Coleman page.

    1. Hey Dejhl. I am glad you got enjoyment out of her latest acting award…she has to be getting good at those speeches…she is certainly getting lots of practice. Good comment.

  4. Although Olivia has built up a massive filmography on the big screen and TV over the past 20 years she first came to my own attention in the 3 series of the television production Broadchurch in which she and fellow-detective David Tennant investigated brutal murders. Tennant is famous for playing, between 2005 and 2010, the 10th incarnation of legendary television sci-fi icon Dr Who, with whom Steve in particular might well be familiar; the Doc was never my own cup of tea.

Since Broadchurch I have of course seen The Favourite; and have just finished watching the 3rd series of Netflix’s The Crown which follows the reign of the current Queen Elizabeth 2nd of England who came to the throne when she was in her mid-twenties in 1952 and will celebrate her 94rd birthday this year. Olivia plays Queen Elizabeth during the years 1964-1977 when she in her late thirties-early fifties. Claire Foy played the younger Queen Elizabeth 2nd in Series 1 and 2. The 3 series began in 2016, Olivia’s 3rd was released last year and a 4th is planned.

Olivia seems to feel that as an actress she has an affinity with historical/political real-life figures because she in Meryl Streep’s The Iron Lady Olivia played Carol Thatcher, daughter of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady of the title. Between 200 and 2017 Olivia also found time to act in 4 stage plays including in 2000 Eugene O’Neill’s famous Long Days Journey into Night, the film version of which in 1962 starred Katie Hepburn.

I also recently saw Olivia in the 2017 version of Murder on the Orient Express on the big screen. Next for her in that medium is 2020’s The Father co-starring Sir Anthony Hopkins; and on television she will do an episode of The Simpsons. Celebrity Net Worth puts her current fortune at $6 million and IMDB credits her with 72 acting awards and 57 noms. Indeed she has just won her 3rd Golden Globe for her performance as Elizabeth 2nd in The Crown. For her historical as well as her topical value Olivia certainly deserves her Cogerson page.

    1. Hey Bob…thanks for the thoughts on Olivia Colman. A year ago, I would have never thought that I would have a page on her….but being an Oscar winning actress puts her in some esteemed company.

Good information as always from the Bob memory bank. Never heard of Broadchurch….but it sounds a little like X-Files…which I liked. I have heard of The Crown…and maybe around me say it is awesome…it is not on my radar to see anytime soon. I agree she seems to love playing “historical/political real-life figures”. To her credit she plays those roles very well. Good stuff as always.
