She was Errol Flynn’s favorite leading lady…..they made 9 movies together. She is one of only thirteen actresses to win more than one Best Actress Oscar®. She was one of the most popular actresses in the 1930s and 1940s. She is the oldest living acting Oscar® winner….she took over that spot when Luis Rainier passed away last year. She was in my book, the best ever Maid Marian to ever appear on movie screens….1938’s The Adventures of Robin Hood. Shebwas one of the last surviving cast members of 1939’s Gone With The Wind. She was in the best killer bee movie ever made….ok….maybe The Swarm was not a career highlight for her. She was nominated for an Oscar® 5 times in her career.
That is one impressive resume for the latest Ultimate Movie Rankings page subject…..Olivia de Havilland. Olivia de Havilland (1916-2000) had 59 acting credits from 1935-1988. In the table below Ultimate Movie Rankings ranks 48 of her movies in 6 different sortable columns. Movies made for television, television appearances and cameos were not included in the rankings.

Wow! Thank you Bruce very very interesting
Glad you liked it. I had fun putting it together.
Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Not sure which I am most impressed with. The speed that you generated this article or the article itself. Thank you thank you. I have bookmarked and shared this page. Now I am going to really study this Olivia page. Tom.
Hey Tom…..glad to see we have a happy customer. Her career was much stout than I thought it was going to be.
Well, I really enjoyed the above – I have seen most of her movies and think she is a great actress. I wonder how many young people today know about this actress. Thanks so much for your latest – GOOD JOB AS USUAL.
Hey BERN1960….thanks for checking out my latest page. Sadly I do not think many young people have any idea of Olivia de Havilland….but she has had one awesome life. Thanks for the comments.
Excellent work on one of the greats of Hollywood’s golden age, one of the very few still with us. 9 films with Errol Flynn whoa! Your Gone With the Wind section was interesting so many successful re-releases, over $300m in 1967! This must have been when the top and bottom of the picture was cut off to show it in widescreen, movie buffs were horrified but luckily on DVD and Blu-ray we have the entire film restored.
I’ve seen just 12 of the 47 films you’ve listed, I thought it’d be more. My favorites are Gone With the Wind, Robin Hood, Captain Blood and They Died With Their Slippers On.
I have to confess I haven’t seen some of her famous roles such as The Snake Pit and The Heiress.
Btw I bought The Swarm on DVD, he shamefully admitted. an extended version (Bruce winces) starring your favorite British actor.
Hey Steve….I have seen 13 of her movies. To Each His Own is one of the few Best Actress Oscar winning performances that I have not seen. I recorded it on a VHS tape years ago and never got around to watching it. Now I do not have a VHS player….maybe one day I will find that movie.
I read that one of her few appearances in the states was coming to Charlton Heston’s funeral…they must have been good friends. You are correct about the 70MM re-release….it reminds me of when Star Wars came out after Lucas played with the movie.
The Snake Pit is worth checking out…granted in is depressing as hell….but gives a glimpse of how things happened back then…when it came to mental illness.
The Swarm is a fun movie to watch…and not just because of Michael Caine….Olivia, Ben Johnson, Fred MacMurray, Richard Wildmark, Henry Fonda, Jose Ferrer and thousands of bees….how could it go wrong?
Thanks as always for checking out my latest page.
She had a great career. Very educational. So is Anna Kendricks coming now?
Hey Katelyn….thanks for checking this page out. And yes I will be shortly working on Ms. Anna Kendricks very soon.
