She was Errol Flynn’s favorite leading lady…..they made 9 movies together.  She is one of only thirteen actresses to win more than one Best Actress Oscar®.  She was one of the most popular actresses in the 1930s and 1940s.  She is the oldest living acting Oscar® winner….she took over that spot when Luis Rainier passed away last year.  She was in my book, the best ever Maid Marian to ever appear on movie screens….1938’s The Adventures of Robin Hood. Shebwas one of the last surviving cast members of 1939’s Gone With The Wind. She was in the best killer bee movie ever made….ok….maybe The Swarm was not a career highlight for her. She was nominated for an Oscar® 5 times in her career.

That is one impressive resume for the latest Ultimate Movie Rankings page subject…..Olivia de Havilland.  Olivia de Havilland (1916-2000) had 59 acting credits from 1935-1988.  In the table below Ultimate Movie Rankings ranks 48 of her movies in 6 different sortable columns. Movies made for television, television appearances and cameos were not included in the rankings.

  1. Without error of me SHE IS THE LAST CLASSIX STAR IN LIVE TO DAY
may be she was in party with GARBO , FLYNN, DIETRICH, GABLE, CRAWFORD, GRANT, DAVIES, LOMBARD, COOPER and so on
thank you, Madame, for all your films

    1. 1 It;s amazing to think that she has survived by 57 years her frequent co-star Errol Flynn. That’s longer than his own life span as he died aged 50

2 She survives her Gone with the Wind co-star Clark Gable by 56 years. He was just 59 when he died.

      1. Yes, well, there were health reasons for those men dying so young.

Clark Gable is my favourite artist born the same day of the year as I was and I adore him.

I’m also a big fan of Flynn.

But these men did not take care of themselves. Gable in particular did stunts in The Misfits which he should not have done but did anyway.

I first saw Gone with the Wind back in my 20s on VHS two cassettes because I love everyone in the cast so much – especially Gable.

I am thrilled that Olivia made the century mark.

        1. Hey Flora….I agree that they did not take care of themselves….but is amazing that one of their romantic stars is still around so many years after their passing. I used to have a list of Cary Grant’s leading ladies that were still around….sadly that list has gotten so much smaller….but there are still some around…and still acting.

          1. Oh, I am LOVING the star of the month tribute. I am a member of her closed Facebook
            fan Club.

      2. Hey Bob….I agree with you 100%….those numbers are mind boggling…..she is only 3 years away from going to the 80th anniversary party of GWTW ….in 1999 she said she was going to make it to 2019…so far she is 100% correct.

        1. BRUCE:

Among the men I am aware of just 2 Centurians:

          (1) George Burns – not really a film star

          (2) Robert Hope – he survived Bing by 26 years I think.

          Best wishes BOB

          1. Hey Bob….I cannot think of anybody else either on the man side….on the woman side there have been many more…Luis Rainer comes to mind….she passed away a couple of years ok….at the age of 104 or 105…it was sad….because it barely got noticed when she passed…..granted her back to back Oscar wins…occurred in the the 1930s.

    2. Hey Pierre….she was one of the greats for sure….how AFI did not list her as one of the Screen Legends is beyond me.

    1. Yes, I have yet to be able to get all the way through it so far. I hope to be able to some day. But right now, I don’t think I could watch it.

    2. Hey Diane. I agree with you. It is amazing how they treated people with mental handicaps back….hopefully things are much better now. She is pretty impressive in the movie. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. By the way, my total has gone up since my last comment total on Olivia’s ranked films from 20 of the 48 to 22 of the 48.

        1. Granted it takes awhile to get to that happy ending…but it is a Hollywood ending for sure. Just know there are some rainbows coming as you work your way through the storm…..lol.

    1. Hey Flora…..I am still at 13……which I find amazing since I watch so many movies. 22 you are almost halfway there.

    1. Ranking has to do with quality of film, not whether or not the film is disturbing.

Touch of Evil is a disturbing film, for example. But it is a masterpiece.

    2. Hey Mary….well Lady in the Cage is not last but it is pretty far down the list…..in 45th place. It is certainly not one of the highlights of her career….thanks for the comment.
