Owen Wilson Movies

Want to know the best Owen Wilson movies?  How about the worst Owen Wilson movies?  Curious about Owen Wilson’s box office grosses or which Owen Wilson movie picked up the most Oscar® nominations? Need to know which Owen Wilson movie got the best reviews from critics and audiences? Well you have come to the right place….because we have all of that information.

In 1996, Owen Wilson (1968-) debuted as an actor in Wes Anderson’s Bottle Rocket. In this low budget movie, Wilson played a lovable loser named Dignan. In my opinion, Dignan is one of the best movie characters in the last 20 years. Bottle Rocket did very little at the box (failed to gross over one million dollars) but it got Wilson at least one huge fan….besides me. That fan was Ben Stiller who immediately gave Wilson a role in the Ben Stiller directed movie The Cable Guy.

Since The Cable Guy, Wilson and Stiller have appeared in another 9 movies together. Some of their movies together have been huge hits, all three Meet the Parents movies, all three Night at the Museum movies, and Starsky and Hutch.  He has also starred in the critically acclaimed movies The Royal Tenenbaums and Midnight in Paris. When Owen Wilson goes it alone, without Stiller, the results have been mixed. He has megahits like Marley and Me, The Wedding Crashers, and Cars. But he has had numerous disappointments like Drillbit Taylor, How Do You Know, Marmaduke, I Spy, and The Big Bounce.

His IMDb page shows over 88 acting credits since 1994. This page will rank Owen Wilson movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

  1. I love Owen. Me You and Dupree is one my faves. Awesome hub! and great hub topics too – lots of interesting things to read about.

    1. Hey Emily….he was pretty funny in Me You and Dupree….thanks for the nice words about my Wilson movie page

  2. Owen Wilson has grown on me over the years. I really enjoyed his roles in meet the Fockers and little Fockers, very much. He couldn’t have been better for the role. He seemed to get better and better two.

  3. Hi Cogerson, my top Owen Wilson’s would be The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic… and Zoolander too. I brought my fifteen-year-old nephew to see Little Fockers over Christmas and we both agreed, truly terrible film but Owen Wilson was worth watching it for! Great movie page!

    1. I liked Tenenbaums and Zoolander….but I never could get into Life Aquatic. I agree that Little Fockers is pretty weak….thanks for the visit and the comment.

  4. When he almost got shot in behind enemy lines by the sniper, I jumped out of my seat. I love bottle rocket and his character in armaggedon. Zoolander needs more love.

    1. Hey BryRog57…glad you have been able to appreciate the movies of Owen Wilson….thanks for the comment

  5. Wow (said in poor Owen Wilson imitation voice) you really did some digging for this one. I like most of Owen’s movies and usually pay little attention to what the critics say. Voting up!

    1. MikeNV, thanks for stopping by…thanks for the compliment….critics are not the biggest Owen Wilson fans.
