UMR demonstrating once again that it is a well rounded, diverse website. Very cool that Pam Grier follows you on Twitter. Interesting fact number 5 does not really make much sense, although I think I get the jest of what you are trying to say. Her early 1970s have a place in film history. Good to see UMR taking at look at those movies.
Hey SteinHoF17…gotta admit…I am not too aware of the early Grier films….so I had a good time researching these movies…plus had a fun time adding in all of the trailers. Wow….they do not make movies like that anymore….which is why I had to add in that disclaimer before opening those trailer links. I see your point about #5…have fixed it….so it makes more sense. Thanks for the kind words, the heads up and the visit.
I’ve seen 12 of the 43 films on the chart. Favorites include – Jackie Brown, Fort Apache The Bronx, Above the Law, Mars Attacks! and Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Tarantino’s Jackie Brown had good reviews but it wasn’t a big hit going by the adjusted box office, even Chevy Chase Snow Day did better.
Interesting trivia on Pam Grier. Nice work Bruce. Vote Up.
Hey Steve. I have also seen 12 of her movies. I have seen all of your favorites except for Something Wicked This Way Comes. Like most of Tarantino’s movies…..it was not a monster hit…but got some good reviews and has aged well. Funny that Snow Days made more at the box office than Jackie Brown. I figured Mars Attacks! would make your favorite list. Glad you liked the trivia. Thanks for the visit, comment and tally.
i did not mention that coffy is my favorite pam movie
Hey Parsons….yep Coffy got a Top 5 spot in our rankings….glad your favorite Grier ranked so high.
Been a fan of her for years. She is a cancer survivor. At one point things were not looking good for her, yet she overcame that horrible disease. I was so glad when Jackie Brown put her back in the limelight. I remember hoping she would get an Academy Award nomination. Glad to see my favorite Grier movie is well liked.
Hey Parsons. I read that she was also a cancer survivor….which is just another reason to really like Pam Grier. Jackie Brown did get her back in the limelight…..and since she has one of the main roles in the Tarantino role she will remain in that spotlight….as I think all of his movies will stand the test of time….just like Hitchcock’s movie resume has. I am pretty sure she was one of the main contenders for an Oscar nomination that year….shame she did not get one. Thanks for stopping by.
Pam Grier is a movie pioneer who does not get enough attention. Nobody did the things she accomplished, paving the road for others to follow. Thank you for writing about her.
Hey Shana R. More than happy to get this review of Pam Grier’s movie career on the world wide web. So glad G. Vandross requested a page on her. I agree she was indeed a pioneer. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
