Pixar Movies vs DreamWorks Movies Can Be Ranked 7 Ways In The Table Below
The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.
- Movie title and with a link to the movie’s trailer.
- Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by which company produced the movie and the voice star of the movie
- Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
- Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by adjusted worldwide box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)
- Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by critic reviews and audiences voting. 60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
- Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Pixar Movie and DreamWorks Movie received.
- Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score. UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score. The ceiling to earn points for box office is $200 million…once a movie passes that mark it stops earning points in that category.

I am a big disney/pixar/dreamworks fan! I love almost all of those movies and frequently re-watch them even though I do not have any kids. I found this very interesting because of my interest in these types of movies and I enjoyed seeing where some of my personal favorites sit.
Hey mythicalstorm …I know what you mean…..although I have kids many of these movies I have enjoyed as well….looking at the list….we own 28 of the 31 movies on DVD or Blu-Ray…….the only was missing? The two that are currently at the theater and Antz(which is actually a pretty violent movie for kids). Glad to hear you liked my movie list.
How did I miss Flushed Away? Old as I am, I love the new animated films. The first Toy Story is definitely a classic that tugs at the heart. The best thing that happened to ‘cartoons’ is Dreamworks and Pixar. If they ever team up watch out movieworld!
As always your movie page is full of information, interesting tid bits and lots of hard work! I think you wrote this just before I joined HP but it is still relevant, informative and interesting!
Hey tillsontitan….thanks for such nice words and compliments…..Toy Story and its sequels have been such a big part of my kid’s lives….when it first came out my older kids loved it….and now my little ones 17 years later are huge Toy Story fans….as you can tell by my avatar.
I do not think that Pixar and Dreamworks will ever work together …but maybe way down the road…..there will be a new Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie and they will incorporate Pixar and Dreamworks characters into the movie….instead of a Daffy and Donald Duck piano scene we could get a Shrek and Buzz Lightyear duet.
Thanks for stopping by.
Finding Nemo – I love that movie! Pixar are still better when it comes to storytelling and no matter how magnificent the animation, the story has to be great.
Hey Jools99….I agree 100% with you about the story…..that is what has been somewhat of a letdown with Pixar with Cars 2 and Brave…..Pixar pretty much said they made Cars2 just to sell more toys…..while Brave is a good movie….it borrows to much stuff from other movies. I am looking forward to seeing Finding Nemo in 3D, I think it is the only Pixar movie that I do not own on Blu-Ray…..thanks for the visit.
Bruce,
Thanks for publishing another great film-related article. I find it interesting that Dreamworks has made more animated movies, but Pixar comes out better in the head-to-head matchup.
Hey Daisy…thanks for visiting one of my more popular pages….. I think Pixar has a schedule of one and only one movie a year…..when Dreamworks came out it seemed like they were interested in quantity versus quality. I think Pixar is still the champ….but their last couple of movies have not been their best by a wide margin.
that’s fairly interesting. i didn’t realize that shrek 2 would turn out to have the highest box office revenue among both pixar and dreamworks films, as that’s fairly interesting to know. Anyway, thanks for putting all this together.
Hey stevennix2001, shrek2 was a monster hit, which probably why dreamworks continues to mine that well for more box office gold with that franchise. Thanks for the comment and compliment.
