The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by which company produced the movie and the voice star of the movie
  • Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost (in millions)

  • Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by critic reviews and audiences voting.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Pixar Movie and DreamWorks Movie received.
  • Sort Pixar Movies and DreamWorks Movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.  The ceiling to earn points for box office is $200 million…once a movie passes that mark it stops earning points in that category.

  1. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find the Critics Audience Ratings? They don’t seem to match the reviews of Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic for example

    1. Hey Ray. They are the average score of the following sources…..Rotten Tomatoes, Yahoo Movies, IMDB voting, Leonard Maltin and the late great Roger Ebert. Rotten tomatoes and IMDB each get 35% in my equation….while the rest make up the last 30%. Trying to figure out a good replacement for Ebert for the new movies that are coming out.

  2. HTTYD is definitely my favourtie all time computer animation, even though in general Pixar tends to be better. Completely agree with Matt

    1. Hey Scarlett….I am glad to see HTTYD getting so much respect. I am looking forward to the sequel which is coming soon…..and I also can highly recommend the BluRay 3d version of HTTYD as it makes it look like a brand new movie. Thanks for the thoughts.

  3. I love how the top ten of both based on audience approval is literally all Pixar except HTTYD. It really says something about how great that movie is, that it can stand up to Pixar’s best.

I personally think it’s actually better than Pixar’s best, but that’s just an opinion.

    1. Hey Matt. It is amazing how HTTYD really stands out on the critic audience Top Ten. I think HTTYD was Dreamworks best movie since Shrek 1 and better than any Pixar movie over the last 10 years….with Toy Story 3 giving it a run for the money. Thanks for your visit and your comment…both are greatly appreciated.

  4. i love both really!it’s so hard to choose which one is the best.i love kungfu panda, how to train your dragons, rise of the guardian, and the newest THE CROODS.i think THE CROODS it’s going to include in top 10.But still i love Disney more TOY STORY,CARS,A BUGS LIFE,BRAVE,NARNIA,and many else.even though i love epic film.i admit that dreamworks is more epic than Disney. But when you watch Disney movie it’s feels so different it so heartwarming, meaningfull, and just different with the other one.So i vote Disney.

    1. Hey xxx….thanks for the visit. Good to see you giving Dreamworks some kudos…..seems they are the little brother of Pixar…but you have to give them credit as they are much more productive than Pixar. Pixar’s latest movies have been average at best….Cars 2 and Brave….and their Plane Pixar movie seems like another version of Cars. I appreciate the awesome comment.

  5. Dreamworks has a marketing problem, I avoided several movies because I thought the ads looked terrible, only to fall in love with the film after seeing it after it came out on video.
