1.Raymond Allen Liotta was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1954. Liotta was adopted by Mary and Alfred Liotta when he was 6 months old.

2. Ray Liotta received a degree in fine arts in 1978 from the University of Miami. He performed in musicals such as Cabaret, Dames at Sea, Oklahoma, and Sound of Music, during college.  After college, Liotta moved to New York City. He got a job as a bartender at the Shubert theatres and landed an agent within six months.

3. Ray Liotta turned down the role of Tony Soprano in The Sopranos (1999). He was later offered the role of Ralph Cifaretto, also in The Sopranos (1999), but turned it down. Several cast members from Goodfellas (1990) appeared in the series.

4. Ray Liotta has been in 3 films that were Oscar®-nominated for Best Picture: Field of Dreams (1989), Goodfellas (1990), and Marriage Story (2019).

5. Ray Liotta  has never seen Field of Dreams (1989). At the time of filming, his mother was in ailing health, which negatively effected his experience in making the film.

    1. Hey Dan. I am right there with you. I was just looking up Broken Soldier. I was trying to figure out if it should be included in the page or not. I had failed to include The Many Saints of Newark and No Sudden Move….both are now on the page. I have now seen 43 of his movies. My Top 5. Good Fellas, Identity, Smokin Aces, Something Wild and Unlawful Entry. Rest In Peace Ray Liotta.
