Razzie Winning Movies

The Golden Raspberry (Razzies®) awards are the brainchild of John J.B. Wilson. The Razzies® celebrate the worst that Hollywood has to offer for a given year. Wilson started the Razzies® back in 1980, and they have grown into a yearly fun event…..unless of course you are one of the nominees or the winners.  The Razzies® follow in the tradition of the Medved brother’s Golden Turkey Awards and the Harvard Lampoon “Movie Worst” Awards.

This page looks at the winners or should I say loser of the Worst Picture of the year.  All the Razzie® Winning Movies are listed in the following table.  The table ranks 37 Razzie Winning Movies movies from Best to Worst in five different sortable columns of information.

Razzie Winning Movies Movies Can Be Ranked 5 Ways In This Table

The really cool thing about this table is that it is “user-sortable”. Rank the movies anyway you want.

  • Sort by Razzie Winning Movies by the stars of his movies.
  • Sort Razzie Winning Movies movies by adjusted domestic box office grosses using current movie ticket cost.
  • Sort Razzie Winning Movies movies how they were received by critics and audiences.  60% rating or higher should indicate a good movie.
  • Sort by how many Oscar® nominations and how many Oscar® wins each Razzie Winning Movies movie received.
  • Sort Razzie Winning Movies movies by Ultimate Movie Rankings (UMR) Score.  UMR Score puts box office, reviews and awards into a mathematical equation and gives each movie a score.

Things I Find Interesting About The Razzie Winning Movies

1. Sandra Bullock actually proved what a good sport she was by picking up her Razzie® for All About Steve the night before she won her Oscar® for The Blindside. Halle Berry also picked up her Razzie® and gave a very funny acceptance speech.

2. Internet Movie Database (IMDb) actually lists Razzie® wins and nominations under the awards section for each actor and actress on their website.

3. Adam Sandler has been nominated for 20 Razzie® nominations over the years.  He has won 5 Razzies®.

4. Sylvester Stallone has received 28 Razzie® nominations. Stallone has won 8 Razzies® in his career…..he also won Worst Actor of the decade and Worst Actor of the century Razzies®. One of his Razzies® was shared with James Cameron for their writing on Rambo: First Blood Part 2.

5. Bruce Willis and Demi Moore were married from 1987 to 2000. During that time frame they managed to star in 4 movies that won Razzies® for Worst movie(Hudson Hawk, Striptease, Color of Night and Indecent Proposal). They also managed to make 5 other movies that were nominated for Worst movie(North, Nothing But Trouble, Bonfire of the Vanities, The Scarlett Letter and Armageddon). Being a big Bruce Willis fan…..it actually hurt to type this possibly interesting fact.

6. Another great source for really bad movies are the books written by Michael Medved and his brother Harry Medved. Those books look at many movies made before 1980 and are called The Fifty Worst Movies of All Time, The Golden Turkey Awards, and The Son of the Golden Turkey Awards.

  1. Hello Bruce,
very good page but in the maintime thers are so many bad films every year that this page could be without end
and by the way some of these very bad films are great box office ;;;;so why not
    i saw some of them but i have to say that for me , if i am in a very good moon, i can see a very bad film witout regret simply because i am in a movie place but at the end certainly i shall say this is a film to watch on TV not in theater;

    1. Hey Pierre…..I have often thought about including the Golden Turkey winners and the Harvard Worst Movies of the year….but have not found the time to do that. I understand you thinking….even a bad movie has something to offer….even if it is just the fact that you are indeed watching a movie. Thanks for checking out this page.

    1. Hey TP…Fifty Shades of Grey has been added to the table. This year the Razzies were pretty quiet…I wonder if they changed something this year. Either way Grey joins the list of truly horrible movies…thanks for the catch.

  2. Good Day Mr. Cogerson:
Wonderful & informational web page you set up for Razzies. Too bad though the Razzies didn’t come into existence until 1980 though. If they were around for, say 1979, one particular 1979 release would have won the Razzie of The Year hands-down. This film (my favorite all-time bad movie & cult favorite) called Skatetown USA was a late attempt to cash in on the briefly-lived roller disco fad. Among other things (like scantily-clad girls with rather healthy bra sizes), it also had (and you could win some movie trivia contests with this)….

Patrick Swayze in his first-ever movie feature role. He played bad-boy skater, and main antagonist, Ace Johnson.

I could go on & on about this wonderful film but a YouTube reviewer (for the Skatetown USA trailer currently on YouTube) put it best: “The third installment in the devil’s unholy trilogy of godawful Eighties roller disco flicks meant to destroy mankind’s collective sense of good taste once and for all. Naturally, I could not possibly recommend this movie any more highly ”
(Note: It was actually the first, beating Roller Boogie and Xanadu to the screen).

Finally, here’s a link to my write-up on this movie on the Home Theater Forum (www.hometheaterforum.come).

Love your page. Stay in touch and visit us on Home Theater Forum (as I chronicle my efforts to have Skatetown USA brought to Blu-ray).

    1. First of all thanks for the visit and the compliment about my website. Secondly you have me sold on the fact that Skatetown needs to be on DVD or Blu-Ray. I enjoyed checking out the two links you shared……and I will be joining that forum as it seems to have lots of fellow movie fanatics. Once again thanks for the great comment.
