Rob Reiner (1947-) is an American actor, writer, director, producer, and activist. His IMDb page shows over different credits since 1961. This page will rank all of Rob Reiner directed movies and our personal Top 10 Reiner movie acting roles. Movies will be ranked from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

Drivel part of the page:  Seems like just yesterday when television actors “Meathead” and “Opie” were considered the top two directors working.  Things have slowed down for Rob Reiner and Ron Howard over the last 10 years but we still consider ourselves huge fans of both directors. We wrote a Ron Howard page years ago…and finally we are doing a page on Rob Reiner.  But be aware there are R.O.U.S.s ahead…and Rodents Of Unusual Size really do exist!

  1. Where’s Carl? Who is this Rob kid? 🙂 Maybe you should have added Carl Reiner too Bruce, make it the Reiner Family page or would it have been too long?

I’ve seen 9 from the directing chart and just 3 from the acting chart. Good to see A Few Good Men topping the UMR that’s probably the one I’ve watched the most.

Rob Reiner has directed some modern classics like Stand By Me and When Harry Met Sally but I rarely watch them. This is Spinal Tap is one I’ve watched many times in the past. I have it on blu-ray..And it’s been ages since I last watched The Princess Bride, my favorite character in that was Inigo Montoya “you killed my father. Prepare to die”. Now I’m in the mood to watch it again, it’s all your fault Bruce!

I still haven’t seen The Bucket List.

I watched his father Carl a few weeks ago in The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! I didn’t recognize him at first looking much younger than I’m used to seeing him and with hair!

This goes all the way to eleven! Voted Up!

    1. Hey Steve.
      1. Tally count. Me 26 you 12.
      2. Carl is worthy of his own page. Which I will be sure to link these two pages together.
      3. A young Carl Reiner is always hard to fathom…..especially when he shows up on The Dick Van Dyke show.
      4. I like Inigo Montoya too…..though I like Wallace Shawn’s character the best.
      5. The Bucket List was entertaining…Freeman and Nicholson made a good screen team.
      6. A Few Good Men…is his top UMR movie….but Reiner considers Stand By Me is his masterpiece.
As always thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    1. Hey Flora….Stand By Me is excellent. Highly recommend it. I think you would really enjoy Flipped as well…easily the best thing he has done in the last 20 years. Carl Reiner is one of the greats. Thanks for the visit and the comment.

  3. Hi, Bruce.

I have seen 4 movies from the second table.

I have seen #2 through 7 of the first table.

    1. Hey Flora. 10 Rob Reiner movies is pretty impressive since all of them are in the 1980s to today time frame. I am at 26…with This Is Spinal Tap as the only one that I have missed. I have seen most of that movie….just not from beginning to end. Thanks for checking out our latest page.

  4. Glad to see one of my favorite movies of all time on the top. Suprised it did not earn more at the box office. As for RR when he is good he is great when he is bad he is aweful.

    1. Hey R.O.U.S. Princess Bride and The American President are two movies in heavy rotation at my house. When I was writing the page…I could not think of the acronym for the rats….and three other people in my house knew it right away….and I am the movie buff..lol. Although Reiner’s movies of late have not been too popular at the box office…I have still found them entertaining. I especially liked Flipped. I am hoping he will bounce back and return to his glory days as a director. Thanks for checking out my latest.
