Robert Duvall (1931-) has been nominated 7 times for an acting Oscar®. He won the Oscar® for Best Actor in Tender Mercies in 1983. His most famous roles have been directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Those roles would include The Godfather Part I & Part II, and Apocalypse Now.
First big break was when he was cast as Arthur “Boo” Radley in the classic film To Kill A Mockingbird. Duvall has appeared many acting roles since To Kill A Mockingbird…..many are all time classics. I think it is safe to say that Robert Duvall is one of the greatest character actors to appear on movie screens.
His IMDB page shows 142 acting credits from 1956-2017. This page will rank 73 Robert Duvall movies from Best to Worst in six different sortable columns of information. Television shows, shorts, cameos and movies that were not released in theaters were not included in the rankings.

Wow. Good stuff. had no clue he was in “to kill a mockingbird” till tonight. i’m going to check that out. By the way, Lonesome Dove is one of my favorite TV series, featuring Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
Thanks for all this info!
Hey mattd…yep he has a small but crucial role in the all-time classic movie To Kill A Mockingbird. Lonesome Dove was a very highly rated mini-series that gave Duvalll tons of press…..I have not actually seen all of the first one…thanks for stopping by
Good list, I liked him a lot in Gone in 60 Seconds. How come the Godafather Part 2 made 400 million less than the first? Get Low looks quite interesting, Bill Murray seems to have a good part, speaking of which will he be on the movie page anytime soon? Thanks for the info.
Hey BryRog….well The Godfather sold over 78 million tickets and the Godfather Part II only sold 25 million tickets….so roughly The Godfather 1 was three times more popular than than 2…..still 2 was a major hit….just Godfather was the biggest movie ever…..thanks for coming back to UMR pages.
Wow I didn’t realize Robert Duvall made so many films This is why you are my source for all things movie. Thanks for a great page.
Thanks for the very nice compliment toknowinfo….if you have any actors or actresses you would like done…just say the word….and I will produce that hub….thanks for commenting
Thank you for this page about my favorite actor. I have seen just about every film he is in, including “Get Low” just the other day. I loved this page!
Thanks James…I thought his performance in Get Low was awesome….I was rooting for him to get another Oscar nomination…but he fell a little short of that goal….I appreciate you reading and commenting
Robert Duvall is a very good actor. Thought he was good in The Godfather – enjoyed him in The Deep (where the world is going to end) Enjoyed many of his movies.
BERN1960…I agree Deep Impact is one of his biggest hits ever ….too bad Armaggedon has always overshadowed that movie
