The latest Batman gets some UMR attention, nice.
Looking at the chart I’ve seen 8 of the 21 films listed, they are the Twilight series, Harry Potter 4, Water for Elephants and Remember Me.
My favorite from that little lot is Harry Potter and the Temple of Doom, which is I think the first time we see Voldermort’s hideous visage in the series (played by Ralph Fiennes).
I thought Pattinson was pretty good in Remember Me, fingers crossed he’ll be one of the better incarnations of Bruce Wayne / Batman.
Whoa forgot how successful the Twilight films were. I suspect mostly young girls watching them over and over? At that time I was watching x-rated vampire series True Blood on TV, my kind of vampires. 😉
Nice work Bruce, Vote Up!
I’ll catch The Lost City of Z on cable eventually.
Hey Steve….thanks for the comment, tally and visit on our Robert Pattinson page. My tally has your tally doubled…16 to 8. I liked most of Remember Me….though I remember being pretty miffed when they pulled out the 9/11 surprise at the end….that seems pretty tacky…using that tragedy for a twist ending.
In my house…DoC1 is a huge Harry Potter fan…heck…that has been going on for almost 20 years now….Pattinson is known for his Potter role more than his entire other career. Twilight movies were monster hits……one of the worst reviewed franchises….yet one of the biggest money making movie franchises EVER! The Lost City of Z was ok…but certainly not a “must see” movie. Good stuff as always.
Robert Pattinson is a relatively recent screen actor, his career starting in 2004. It therefore amazed me to discover that he has already generated a net worth of $100 million, which according to the fortunes I have seen quoted on the Celebrity Net Worth site puts Robert in the broad 2nd tier of the richest movie stars in history, the 1st tier being largely dominated by long-standing high earning stars like Hanks, Cruise and Willis, with only a handful breaking the $200 million net worth barrier.
Because of the tight control of salaries in Old Hollywood very few of the classic era movie people of any description appear to have broken the $100 million barrier in actual earnings and not many more than that get over that benchmark when inflation is taken into consideration.
The lucky ones include the biggest Greats of yesteryear such as Archie Leach and the Duke with an inflation-adjusted $130 and 180 million respectively. By contrast my poor Joan left behind a fortune of ‘only’ $35 million in today’s money. [“If you have tears prepare to shed them, now!” – Shakespeare]
A huge chunk of Pattinson’s fortune seems to have come from the Twilight saga [for the last two of which for example he received a revenue % on top of his salary] and in addition to the financial rewards he is credited by IMDB with 42 acting awards and 49 noms. As well as his big screen movies he has (1) appeared in 3 television productions between 2004 and 2007 (2) contributed to the soundtrack of 4 movies and (3) played the guitar on the track “Birds” in the musical album Government Plates in 2013.Given all that success it would be a brave person who claimed Robert didn’t deserve a Cogerson page and certainly I welcome this one with a “Voted Up”
Expanding on Bruce’s comments in his 6.47 am post I will mention that Robert’s next two cinematic movies are scheduled for release in 2020: “The Devil all the Time”, a psychological thriller at post-production stage, and an action thriller ,Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” which is currently filming. At pre-production stage is “The Batman” in which Robert will play the Caped Crusader/Bruce Wayne; and Robert has also been announced as the star of a drama called “The Stars at Noon”. Busy guy -almost as overworked as our own Work Horse!
Hey Bob….thanks for the thoughts on Robert Pattinson. Wow…that is a lot of money for him already. I actually thought his career was petering out….but boy was I wrong. I first realized that, when he started getting Oscar buzz for Good Time. I then started to realize that he had successfully put Twilight behind him. Now he seems about to reach a lever superstardom that even in his peak Twilight days never happened to him. Time will see.
Good points on ole Hollywood. I imagine people like Bogart would have made so much more if they were not tied to those “studio contracts”. I think your comment further demonstrates as versatile he is. Good feedback as always.
Thanks for feedback. Celeb Net Worth concedes that its net worth figures can’t take account of how much money a celebrity will have earned but already spent.
Flynn for example had a net worth equivalent to $42.5 million today at the time of his death in 1959; yet Errol was said to have squandered large sums of money on his ‘debauched’ lifestyle.
Back to Pattinson: he earned $80 million actual in salaries and %s from the final 2 Twilight movies [to date!]. Even Gable or Crawford at their peak would never have gotten that kind of money out of Louis B for 20 movies let alone 2. “The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.” [L P Hartley The Go-between, published 1953]
Robert Pattinson is on a roll. Great reviews for The Lighthouse. Great buzz for The King (coming out next month). Cast and filming the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s latest epic. Starting to bulk up to be the latest Batman. So it seems we were overdue in creating a Robert Pattinson UMR page. Overall I have 16 of the 21 movies listed here…and The Lighthouse is high on my list of movies to watch.
