Hey Dan. I agree with so few movies his rankings and co-stars is very impressive. I imagine the Michael Caine connection had to help….as well as Donald Sutherland and Malcolm M. I bet the list of current Bacon 1000 is among the highest for a guy that passed away almost 40 years ago. Thanks for the Oscar winner list. A good total especially for a career cut way too short. Thanks for posting these lists….they are always greatly appreciated.
My granddad served with Shaw in the military. Our family has always taken an interest in Mr. Shaw. I have seen most of these movies. His British films seem to be either missing or not rated very high. The Dam Busters is my favourite Shaw movie, probably because it was my granddad and dad’s favourite. You have Robert Shaw listed as the co-star of Robin and Marian. Sharing this page with other members of my family.
Hey Garrett….that is awesome that your granddad served with Shaw. As for the missing British movies….my page excludes movies that were not released in North America. So about 5 or 6 of his movies did not make my rankings. My ranking formula needs box office results to work. I would love to include A Hill In Korea especially since it stars one of my favorites Michael Caine. I will fix my co-star error……thanks for the heads up on that and thanks for the comment.
Hey,
A very great actor I saw 10 I think but i am not sure because I have to find out the translations in French. For instance i saw swashbuckler !!! and I like it very much but in French the title is Le pirate des Caraïbes and to day it is the franchise of …..J Deep.
The Number five is just beginning at the box office ……
Anyway that is the principe of the web, you can always get an answer.
Nice from you Bruce to do a page on this actor
May be it is the second effect of Kiss cool of the 70 UMR page / french publicité for candy in the 2000……??
Anyway …..In Jaws he was the Captain.
Good day
Pierre
Hey Pierre. Tally count…..Steve 16, me 11, you 10 and Flora 6. I want to see his Swashbuckler….it looked interesting when I was looking up it’s stats when researching this page. Pirates 5 has done well here…but it is the international money that is keeping that franchise afloat. I loved Shaw as the Captain in Jaws. Thanks for the nice words.
I have seen 6 of Robert Shaw’s films most near the top of the rankings.
I have seen and love The Sting and From Russia With Love.
I have recently finally added Jaws to my seen list.
Battle of the Bulge is a film that was a one viewing only for me. I found it boring.
I have also seen Robin and Marion, as well as Libel.
Hey Flora….tally count….Steve 16, me 11 and you 6. The Sting and From Russia With Love are awesome movies. Glad to see that you watched Jaws…..now the question is….what did you think? Battle of the Bulge is far from my favorite war movie…..but I do like the case. I was not too impressed with Robin and Marion….never really heard of Libel. Thanks for the tally, comment and visit.
I enjoyed Jaws and would likely watch it again. However, I wouldn’t call it a favourite. It was more of scratching off a famous film from a to-see list.
Hey Flora…glad you liked it….and would watch it again. I like that you are knocking famous movies off your list. At least this was a better experience than your Wild Bunch viewing. Keep up the good work.
Great actor and one of the most memorable Bond villains, good work Bruce.
I’ve seen 16 of the 23 films listed, favorites include – Jaws (which for a while was my no.1 favorite movie back in the 70s, I must have seen Jaws at least a dozen times on the big screen), From Russia With Love, The Deep, Battle of the Bulge, Battle of Britain (my favorite war film, watched it again a few days ago), Force 10 from Navarone and Black Sunday.
Not a big fan of The Sting, much prefer Butch Cassidy starring those two.
Good to see Jaws topping the critics chart. I have a nice HD copy of A Man for All Seasons but it’s not a film I watch often.
Shaw died too young, it’s a damn shame.
I watched a touching video recently of Richard Dreyfuss tearing up after meeting Shaw’s granddaughter. If you want to view it type “dreyfuss – shaw – granddaughter” in the youtube search box. It’s only a couple of minutes long.
Vote Up!
Hey Steve. I have seen 11 of his movies….so you have me topped. I have seen all of your favorites. I was not as impressed with Battle of Britain…but I have only seen it once. Maybe it is time to revisit that one. My lasting memory of the movie is the outstanding performance of Laurence Olivier. I saw Force 10 in theaters….at the time I did not even know their was a Guns of Navorone movie. Mr. Harrison Ford got me to the theater for that one.
Jaws is one of my favorite movies….watch that one all the time….and Shaw’s performance is one of the many highlights of that movie. I have actually seen that Dreyfuss you tube clip….good to know that Dreyfuss did not hold a grudge against Shaw. I agree the man died way to early. Thanks for stopping by.
