Roger Moore (1927-2017) is an English actor. Moore became an international star when he played James Bond seven times between 1973 and 1985.  His IMDb page shows 96 acting credits from 1945 to 2016. Drivel part of the page:  Who is the best James Bond?  Everybody has an opinion on that question.  Pretty sure Sean Connery and Daniel Craig would top all poll results.  I…. happen to be in the minority….as Sir Roger Moore has always been my favorite Bond.  The first Bond movie I saw in theaters was Moore’s The Spy Who Loved Me…and it made a lasting impression on me.  Over the years we have gotten some requests to give Mr. Moore his very own UMR page…..well Brando90, Flora & Tyler…the time is finally here.

  1. I like Mr. Moore. BUT!!!!!!! Nobody does Bond better than Sean Freaking Connery! Just my two cents.

    1. Hey Connery Rules….thanks for the visit….many many people agree with you….appreciate the comment.

  2. Dear old Roger is getting on a bit isn’t he? He’ll be 90 next year, gosh!

One of my favorite Bond actors, Sir Roger never took himself seriously as an actor. He’d say things like “I’ll be using expression no.2 in the next Bond movie.” Audiences didn’t care, they really liked him as the suave, debonair, unflappable Bond, James Bond.

As a 007 aficionado I like all the Bond films, my favorite Moore Bond is The Spy Who Loved Me, I also have a soft spot for Moore’s first, Live and Let Die. Good to see Spy at the top of the UMR and critics charts

I’ve seen 16 of the 33 films you’ve listed. My favorite non-Bond movie here is The Wild Geese, which I remember seeing at the cinema a long time ago. Shout at the Devil was overlong but it had some fun moments between Moore and Lee Marvin. The Sea Wolves and Escape to Athena gets aired on TV all the time here in the UK.

The Naked Face and The Man Who Haunted Himself proved that Moore could be a good dramatic actor when he wanted to.

A fine tribute to a well-liked British actor Bruce. Voted Up!

George Lazenby next? I’ve seen all of his Bond films too. 🙂

    1. George Lazenby indeed. I have seen all of his Bond movies too. 😉

I watched that for Diana Rigg. She hated him, so made sure she had eaten garlic before their love scenes.

      1. Hey Flora….we have a tie in the tally count when it comes to George Lazenby….funny story about the garlic, Riggs and Lazenby.

    2. Hey Steve.
      1. Glad you like our Roger Moore page.
      2. Tally count……you 16….Flora 14…. and me 10….surprised Flora took me down on this one.
      3. That is a funny comment about his different facial expressions……I like that he did not take playing Bond too serious….seems Daniel Craig plays it way too serious.
      4. Live and Let Die and The Spy who loved me are my favorite two Moore Bond movies too.
      5. I will have to check out The Naked Face and the The Man Who Haunted Himself.
      6. Let’s see ……we have a Craig, Connery,Niven and Moore page….I guess I need a Lazenby, Brosnan and Dalton page….. George would be easy….I think he might have two movies.
Thanks for checking out our newest page.

  3. Don’t worry Cogerson you are not the only one who thinks Moore was the best Bond movie. I am right there with you. I love the humor Moore gave Bond. Give me that over Craig’s brooding Bond anytime. His non Bond movies are actually pretty pedestrian. Though I did enjoy him in The Man Who Haunted Himself.

    1. Hey Stein good to know I am not alone on that boat….but I acknowledge the boat is pretty empty….lol. Moore seemed to be having a good time as Bond….even as he got too old for the role. Seemed Craig And Connery really disliked the role near the end of their run. I agree without the Bond movies his career would be pretty weak. Thanks for the visit.

  4. Hi, Bruce!

Thanks for my requested page on Sir Roger Moore. My favourite James Bond movie is a Moore title:

    THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

That is the highest ranked film I have seen.

The highest ranked film I have not seen is Number 11: Wild Geese.

The lowest ranked movie I have seen is Curse of the Pink Panther.

I have seen 14 of his films. Besides all the Bond movies, most of what I’ve seen were either early in his career or much later.

Here my top 5 favourites with using only 2 Bond titles to show some variety:

    The Spy Who loved Me
The Sea Wolves – opposite my Darling Greg
The Man With the Golden Gun
Interrupted Melody – for his early career
    The Sins of Rachel Cade

    RE: Unicef;

    Audrey Hepburn’s birthday was yesterday.

    Thanks for the page, Bruce!

    1. Hey Flora.
      1. It took awhile but finally got around to a Sir Roger.
      2. Tally counts….you 14……me 10…..only three non Bond movies for me.
      3. Glad you like Sea Wolves….I found that one kind of sad to watch…..especially Niven as he looked very very frail in that one.
      4. I will have to check. The Sins of Rachel Cade.
As always….thanks for sharing your movie knowledge.

  5. Hello Bruce, Roger Moore is good choice, where it remains popular in France. In 1974 he played in the TV show “The persuaders” with Tony Curtis. This show was a smash in France and beame very cult. It aired multiple times on French TV. It must be said that the dialogues were much rewritten during dubbing, making it very funny and fun In addition they were two great French theater actors who have dubbed Roger Moore and Tony Curtis. Personally I’ve seen it 7 times.

    1. Hey Laurent…..very cool about The Persuaders…..I read that is where Curtis convinced Moore to stop smoking. I will have to see if I can find that and watch it. Thanks for sharing the French perspective ….I always find it fascinating.
