  1. I saw 81 including 71 of top 75. too many 10s and favorites to list. hidden gems(under 100 million adj box office): her(not funny), princess bride, desk set, the shop around the corner(not funny), victor/victoria, grosse point blank, Americas sweethearts, Roxanne, say anything.
consider adding: the quiet man, birdman, top hat, ball of fire, the Americanization of Emily, parenthood, ferris buellers day off, the birdcage, pump up the volume, adams rib, donovans reef, mcclintock, 2 mules for sister sarah, always(with dreyfus, hunter, goodman, Audrey Hepburn too low rated), the grand canyon, the Thomas crown affair ’99, the big fish, mrs doubtfire, mr and mrs smith, the graduate, guess whos coming to dinner, paint your wagon, big, forrest gump. I apologize for duplicates. I really just want to pass cogerson once on a page. LOL

    1. also consider: the bachelor and the bobby soxer, the taming of the shrew, the thin man, you gotta stay happy, teachers pet, holiday, failure to launch, grumpy old men, murphys romance, what happens in vegas, what a way to go, roger rabbit, true lies

      1. Hey bob cox….thanks for the additional suggestions…..What Happens in Vegas and What A Way To Go were on the list….but got bumped when movies with higher UMR Scores were added. The others I might add next year when I expand this to a Top 200 Romantic Comedy list…..thanks for the suggestions

    2. Hey bob cox…..81 is a pretty stout total…..sorry it falls behind my tally count. One day you will pass my total…lol. Thanks for the large list of 10s. Of your suggested additions….I would think Adam’s Rib and Ball of Fire would be the best fits…..some of the other ones do not seem to fit in the “romantic comedy” group….though….like I wrote in the page….the definition of genre can be difficult to pinpoint. Good stuff as always. -Cogerson – reporting to live from Cherry Hill NJ/Philadelphia PA.

  2. Oh now I get why you were compiling this list, it’s nearing Easter isn’t it? [Stop it Steve!]

I’ve seen 65 of the 100 films on the chart, a lot more than I expected considering there’s nary an explosion, shootout or thrilling car chase in any of these…. I see you’ve covered the usual suspects – Bridget Jones, Notting Hill, Love Actually, Her (Her? HER? what’s that doing on there? I saw that movie… romantic… mmm okay but was it funny? Can’t remember).

Nice to see Some Like it Hot topping the critics chart, probably my favorite film on here. Tootsie the most successful, I’ve only seen that once a long time ago. Those two films have a similar topic, men dressing up as women.

    Good stuff Bruce. Vote Up!

    1. Hey Steve…..yep…you have figured out some of the madness of our UMR subject selections….just like it took years to do a Horror movie page for Halloween…..we have thought of doing a Jesus Movie page for Easter….maybe 2019 is the year that will finally happen. 65 is indeed a wonderful total..especially since these are not your favorite types of movies to watch. The world of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts…that was our 2nd and 3rd ever movie page we ever did. First was Bruce, then Tom and then Julia….the original three.

Her has some subtle humor throughout the movie….it got included when almost every list I looked at, had it listed as romantic comedy….so in the end…I agree….it seems to be more of a drama. Yep Dustin, Tony and Jack made movie history when they dressed like women. I just recently re-watched Tootsie…..it was ok….Bill Murray steals the show as Dustin’s roommate. Good feedback as always.

  3. Hey Bruce,
So you decided to include Charade after all.. lol. It’s not primarily a romantic comedy, but it certainly has a lot of romantic comedy elements in it, and a great cast to go with it. For my part, I have seen 36 of these movies. In addition to Charade, the list includes some of my favorite films: The Apartment, Annie Hall, Roman Holiday, Groundhog Day, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, As Good As It Gets, Her (maybe the most usual of the lot)…and there are many others I like. Good list!

    1. Hey PhilHoF17….yep Charade made the final cut. Cary Grant is well represented on this table. There are lots and lots of romantic comedies that did not make the list…..but I like the final 100…..it has some diversity. I have found that when doing these “genre” pages…..the definition of that genre can get a bit confusing. I remember when I did a Film Noir page….wow….did people get upset about that list. 36 seen? Hmmmm pretty sure my tally is pretty high. Let me count. I have seen 96. It would have saved time to count the ones I had missed….lol. Thanks for checking out our latest page. Good feedback.

  4. I have seen 56 of the Romantic Comedies. They span the classic era to the 2000s. When I do watch current films they tend to fall into this category, as well as some mysteries.

You have some double numbers here with two 17s.

The HIGHEST rated movie I have seen is The Apartment.

The highest rated movie I have NOT seen is Annie Hall.

The LOWEST rated movie I have seen is Overboard. Prior to that, my lowest rated film is 13 Going on 30.

    1. Hey Flora…thanks for the epic comment. 56 seen? Well that tops PhilHoF17 by 20…..but 40 behind me. I guess I am a sucker for a romantic comedy. I did not even realize it. I like many of your favorites as well. Charade was a last minute entry….the Grant/Hepburn romance finally won me over….granted…I did not need that big a push to include one of my all-time favorite movies. Comparing your favorites to non-favorites….I am thinking you enjoy a good romantic comedy as well as I do. One of the 4 I am missing is The Shop Around The Corner…one day I will check that one out. Good stuff as always. Hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day.
